An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Surgical, Anaesthetic and Cancer Division for a Ward Manager on the Telford Elective Surgical Hub, The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. The position also has the managerial responsibility of the Lofthouse suite and the Medical Day unit.

The successful candidate will have an approachable and compassionate approach, demonstrating excellent communication and team working skills and will be dedicated to improving the patient’s experience.  You must have a proven ability in supervising, managing and prioritizing the activities of a Ward/unit in an effective and efficient manner.

 You will be expected to work clinically with a willingness to develop the team as well as demonstrating your own continuing professional development  and growth. You will be responsible for the operational, budget and human resource management of areas of responsibility and will work closely with the Matron for the area.

 The position requires you to work alongside many other stakeholders including Booking & Scheduling, flow coordinators and Theatres including other members of the MDT to optimize Bed and theatre utilisation and improve patient experience.

 Applicants must have significant post registration Surgical experience, with previous experience at Band 6 level.  Experience within an acute surgical environment or experience within Day surgery setting specialty is essential.

 This role offers the opportunity to utilize and develop leadership and change management skills.  The Full time post is substantive, and opportunities will be provided to undertake relevant training to support professional development.
