As an Allied Health Professional (AHP) working at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, you'll play a key role in treating, rehabilitating and improving the lives of our patients. You'll help people regain independance and live their life to it's fullest.

Allied Health Professionals - Audiologist Band 5

Audiology Department

  • Carry out hearing assessments and provide hearing aid support for adults in clinics and community settings.
  • Use specialist equipment to test hearing, fit hearing aids and keep accurate patient records.
  • Explain test results and treatment options clearly to patients, families and carers.
  • Work closely with doctors, nurses and other teams to provide safe and joined-up patient care.
  • Follow professional guidelines and use good judgement to make sure patients receive high-quality care.
  • Take part in training, appraisals and service improvement to continue developing skills and knowledge.

Allied Health Professionals - Lead Superintendent Radiographer and Programme Manager Breast Imaging

Radiology

  • The role leads the breast imaging service across both hospital sites and makes sure patients get safe, high‑quality care.
  • It manages the breast imaging team and helps plan how the service will grow and improve.
  • It ensures breast screening targets are met and that national guidance is followed.
  • It works closely with senior clinical and management staff and attends key local and national meetings.
  • It supports staff training, development and good professional standards.
  • It also carries out mammography when needed and helps patients understand their care.

Allied Health Professionals - Specialist Physiotherapist- Stroke and Rehabilitation

Physiotherapy

  • Provide specialist assessment and treatment for patients with complex needs, working independently to plan and deliver care.
  • Work closely with other healthcare staff to make sure patients receive safe care and are discharged at the right time.
  • Manage your own workload and help support and guide other team members through training and supervision.
  • Give clear advice and support to patients, families and colleagues, using strong communication skills at all times.
  • Keep accurate patient records, follow policies, and take part in audits and service improvements.
  • Act as a source of expert knowledge within the team and help improve services across the organisation.

Allied Health Professionals - Sonographer

Ultrasound

  • You will carry out ultrasound scans on different parts of the body, including abdomen, gynaecology, children, and muscles
  • You will write clear reports on your findings and share them with doctors and other staff 
  • You will make sure patients are comfortable and understand what is happening during their scan 
  • You will work closely with other healthcare staff to provide a high-quality service 
  • You will help train students and take part in learning and research to keep your skills up to date
  • You may take on extra responsibilities when the lead sonographer is away

Allied Health Professionals - Assistant Practitioner (Diagnostic Radiography) apprenticeship Annex 21

X-Ray Department (PRH)

  • The role involves helping to carry out x-ray scans safely and correctly, under the supervision of a qualified Radiographer.
  • You will follow set rules and guidelines to protect patients, staff and yourself from radiation.
  • You will make sure images are clear and useful while keeping radiation levels as low as possible. You will look after patients during their visit, treating everyone with respect, privacy and care.
  • You will use hospital computer systems and equipment properly and report any problems to senior staff.
  • You will stay within your training, ask for help when needed, and keep your skills up to date.
