Allied Health Professionals - Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Shrewsbury & Oswestry

Therapy SLT Outpatients & Community

  • This role involves working with patients who have complex health needs, assessing them and creating treatment plans.
  • You will use your specialist knowledge and skills to help patients get better and leave hospital safely.
  • You will work closely with other therapists and healthcare teams to make sure care is well organised and of a high standard.
  • You will help train and support other team members and students.
  • You will give expert advice to others and take part in improving the service.

  • This role involves working with patients who have complex health needs, helping to assess and treat them safely and effectively.
  • You will use your specialist knowledge and training to create personalised care plans and give expert advice to other healthcare staff. 
  • You’ll work closely with different teams to make sure patients get the best care and are discharged safely. 
  • You’ll also help train and support other team members, including students. 
  • The job includes keeping clear records, following professional rules, and helping improve services. Good communication and teamwork are important, and you’ll need to be flexible and ready to work in different areas when needed.

Therapies

  • This role involves helping patients with their treatment plans and working closely with therapists.
  • You’ll be responsible for your own group of patients and will follow agreed guidelines to support their care.

  • You’ll also help train staff and carers, and make sure patient records are kept up to date.

  • You’ll work mostly on your own but can get support from a qualified therapist when needed.
  • If a patient’s needs become more complex, you’ll pass them on to a therapist.

  • You will help prepare and check medicines for patients, making sure they are safe and correct.
  • You will talk to patients about their medicines and help them understand how to take them properly.
  • You will work on hospital wards, supporting pharmacists and helping with medicine-related questions.
  • You will help manage medicine supplies, including ordering, storing, and returning unused items.
  • You will support and train junior staff and students in the pharmacy team.

Pharmacy

  • This role helps make sure patients get the right medicines when they come into hospital and when they leave.
  • You will talk to doctors, nurses, and patients to check medicine details and help explain how to use them safely.
  • You will help prepare and check medicines in the pharmacy and make sure they are stored and used properly.
  • You will support other pharmacy staff with training and help improve how medicines are managed.

  • You may also work evenings, weekends, and holidays as part of a team rota
