As an Allied Health Professional (AHP) working at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, you'll play a key role in treating, rehabilitating and improving the lives of our patients. You'll help people regain independance and live their life to it's fullest.

Allied Health Professionals - Sonographer

Ultrasound

  • You will carry out ultrasound scans on different parts of the body, including abdomen, gynaecology, children, and muscles
  • You will write clear reports on your findings and share them with doctors and other staff 
  • You will make sure patients are comfortable and understand what is happening during their scan 
  • You will work closely with other healthcare staff to provide a high-quality service 
  • You will help train students and take part in learning and research to keep your skills up to date
  • You may take on extra responsibilities when the lead sonographer is away

Allied Health Professionals - Highly Specialist Physiotherapist - Medicine

Therapy Inpatients PT

  • This role involves assessing and treating patients with complex needs in an inpatient setting, using advanced physiotherapy skills.
  • It includes planning and managing your own workload while supporting and guiding junior staff and students.
  • You will work closely with the wider healthcare team to make sure patients receive safe, high‑quality care and are discharged in a timely way.
  • The job also includes taking part in research, audits and service improvement work to help develop the physiotherapy service.
  • Strong communication skills are needed to explain difficult information to patients, families and colleagues.
  • You will also help with the day‑to‑day running of the service and may need to work flexibly across different sites.

Allied Health Professionals - Diagnostic Radiographer (CT and MRI)

X-Ray Department

  • Carry out X-ray examinations safely and to a high standard, following all regulations.
  • Make sure images are clear and accurate while keeping radiation exposure as low as possible.
  • Work independently and manage your own workload, including out-of- hours and emergency duties.
  • Support senior radiographers and help train students and junior staff.
  • Care for patients throughout their visit, ensuring privacy, dignity, and clear communication.
  • Follow all hospital policies on safety, data protection, and equipment use.

Allied Health Professionals - Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist - Surgery and Gastroenterology

  • This role is for a senior therapist who helps patients with complex health needs by assessing and treating them.
  • You will work closely with other health professionals to make sure patients get the best care and are safely discharged from hospital.
  • You will lead and support a team, helping them learn and grow through training and supervision.
  • You will give expert advice to others and help improve how therapy services are delivered.
  • You will also help teach students and staff, and take part in projects to check and improve the quality of care.
  • You may need to work in different places and at different times to make sure patients are always looked after.

Allied Health Professionals - Theatre Professional Team Leader

Theatres Department (PRH)

  • The role involves giving safe, high-quality care to patients and making sure all clinical work follows Trust rules and best practice.
  • You will help run the theatre each day, making sure staff, equipment, and lists are organised so that everything works smoothly.
  • You will support and guide the theatre team, helping staff understand their duties and keeping standards high throughout each shift.
  • You will step in for the theatre coordinator when needed, helping to keep the service running well and showing strong leadership.
  • You will work closely with the wider team to solve problems, improve the service, and make sure patients have a safe and positive experience.
  • You will keep your clinical skills up to date so you can work safely and meet the changing needs of the service.

Salary: £39,959.00 – £48,117 per annum Closing Date: 21/05/2026 Job Ref: 223-TPD-379 Location: The Princess Royal Hospital Contract: Secondment for 12 months Hours: 37.5

Allied Health Professionals - Consultant Radiographer Breast (Development Role)

Mammography Department

  • The role involves helping to find and diagnose breast problems using advanced imaging skills, working across both Shrewsbury and Telford hospital sites
  • You will work on your own to make important clinical decisions and support patients with clear, kind communication, even when the news is difficult.
  • You will be part of the breast care team, sharing expert advice and helping improve how the service works.
  • You will teach and guide other staff, helping them learn new skills and keeping training up to date.
  • You will take part in research and service development to make breast imaging safer, faster and better for patients.
  • You will use hospital IT systems, keep accurate records and help make sure national breast screening standards are met.

Salary: £79,504 - £91,609 per annum/ pro rata Closing Date: 27/05/2026 Job Ref: 223-CRB-363 Location: The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital Contract: Permanent Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week (with participation in the Trusts on-call managers)

Allied Health Professionals - Diagnostic Radiographer (18 month Apprenticeship) (Internal Only)

X-Ray Department (PRH)

  • The role involves carrying out X‑ray and basic CT scans safely and to a high standard.
  • You will follow radiation safety rules to protect patients, yourself and other staff.
  • You will look after patients during their scan and make sure they feel safe and cared for.
  • You will work different shifts across days, nights and weekends as part of a 24/7 service.
  • You will keep accurate records, follow all Trust policies and report any equipment problems.
  • You will help support student radiographers once you have completed your induction.

Allied Health Professionals - Diagnostic Radiographer - 18 month Apprenticeship (Internal only)

X-Ray Department

  • The role involves carrying out X-ray examinations safely and following all rules that protect patients and staff.
  • You will create good quality images while keeping radiation as low as possible.
  • You will look after patients during their visit, explain what will happen, and work with many different hospital teams.
  • You will use a range of X-ray equipment and keep accurate records in line with hospital policies.
  • You will need to stay calm, make good decisions, and manage a busy and sometimes unpredictable workload.
  • You will also help train students and may run an X-ray room when senior staff are not present. 

Salary: £32,073 - £39,043 per annum/pro rata- Band 5 Annex 21 Closing Date: 02/06/2026 Job Ref: 223-DOG-399 Location: The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital Contract: 18 Month apprenticeship - Annex 21 - Contract will be made permanent on successful completion of training and registration with the HCPC. Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week
