Allied Health Professionals - Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Shrewsbury & Oswestry

Therapy SLT Outpatients & Community

  • This role involves working with patients who have complex health needs, assessing them and creating treatment plans.
  • You will use your specialist knowledge and skills to help patients get better and leave hospital safely.
  • You will work closely with other therapists and healthcare teams to make sure care is well organised and of a high standard.
  • You will help train and support other team members and students.
  • You will give expert advice to others and take part in improving the service.

Allied Health Professionals - Clinical Psychologist Principal

ITU Management

  • Join a specialist team in the Adult Critical Care Unit at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust.
  • Assess and support patients at risk of emotional distress after intensive care treatment.

Emergency Centre

• This role is for a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner working in acute medicine.

• You will care for patients on the Acute Medical Unit and support emergency teams, including evenings and weekends.

• You will train while working, completing a Master’s degree and a prescribing qualification to progress to Band 8a.

• You will assess, treat, and manage patients, and help improve how care is delivered.

• You will work closely with doctors, nurses, and other staff as part of a 7-day service.

• You will also help teach others, follow safety rules, and take part in audits and training.

Pharmacy

  • Work with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff to make sure medicines are used safely and effectively.
  • Visit hospital wards to check patients’ medicines, give advice, and support staff and patients.
  • Help prepare specialist medicines such as chemotherapy, nutrition treatments, and radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Provide support in the dispensary by checking prescriptions, supplying medicines, and supervising staff.
  • Take part in emergency cover by giving urgent advice and supplying medicines when needed.

Biochemistry

  • Help manage a specialist section of the laboratory and support senior staff with daily tasks.

  • Train other staff and help them learn new skills in your area of work.

• To function as a competent clinical practitioner within their designated clinical area. To deliver direct patient care whilst, coordinating and overseeing nursing/theatre practice.

• To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of clinical activities during their span of duty.

• To ensure that there is efficient and effective utilisation of resources to deliver optimum quality care to their client group.

• To deputise for the ward/ department manager in his / her absence, driving forward evidence-based practice and taking responsibility for the supervision of staff and the policies and practices that operate within their clinical area.

• To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

• To participate in the on-call rota if post within theatres.

Allied Health Professionals - Clinical Technologist (Dosimetrist)

Medical Physics Team

  • The role involves helping with treatment planning and mould room services, which support radiotherapy for patients.
  • You will make special shells and devices that keep patients still during treatment, and help plan safe and effective radiation treatments.
  • You will work with senior staff to supervise services, give advice, and support improvements in how care is delivered. Training and professional registration will be required, with support provided to achieve this.
  • You will also help train and guide junior staff, and take part in research and development projects.
  • The job requires careful attention to detail, good communication with patients and staff, and a commitment to high standards of safety and quality.
