Healthcare Scientists - Associate Practitioner of Biomedical Science (Internal only)

Haem Blood Transfusion Technical

  • This role helps deliver important laboratory tests that support patient care.
  • You will carry out a range of tests in areas such as blood sciences and help keep laboratory equipment running safely.
  • You will record results accurately and pass on urgent information to clinical staff when needed.
  • You will help look after blood stocks and take part in quality checks to make sure work meets national standards.
  • You will also support and guide Medical Laboratory Assistants and take part in the out of hours service when required.

Salary: £28,392.00 – £31,157 per annum Closing Date: 22/05/2026 Job Ref: 223-APB-103 Location: The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital Contract: Permanent Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week (24/7 Pathology services. A mixture of earlies, lates ,nights and cores including weekends)

Healthcare Scientists - Embryologist

Fertility Department

  • This job involves helping patients by working in a fertility science lab and carrying out important hands‑on tasks.
  • You will handle sperm, eggs and embryos safely, following strict rules to keep patients and staff protected.
  • You will check, prepare and look after lab equipment and materials so treatments can run smoothly.
  • You will record results carefully, explain scientific information to patients and work closely with the wider team.
  • You will help train junior staff and support both NHS and private patients during their treatment.
  • You will work calmly, follow all laws and guidelines, and be flexible with hours, including some on‑call work.

Healthcare Scientists - Associate Practitioner in Respiratory and Sleep Services

Cardio-Respiratory Department (PRH)

  • The role involves helping to carry out breathing tests and supporting the sleep apnoea service.
  • You will work as part of a team and follow set standards to make sure tests are done safely and correctly.
  • You will help with tasks such as booking appointments, preparing equipment and keeping the area clean.
  • You will talk with patients, explain tests in a simple way and help reassure them during their visit.
  • You will learn to spot when a patient may need urgent help and pass information to senior staff.
  • You will also help with basic admin tasks, such as keeping records and managing supplies.

Salary: £28,392.00 – £31,157 per annum Closing Date: 01/06/2026 Job Ref: 223-APR-396 Location: The Princess Royal Hospital with cross-site working required at CDC/The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital Contract: Permanent Hours: 37.5

Healthcare Scientists - Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist

Cardiology

  • This role involves carrying out advanced heart tests and giving accurate results on your own.
  • You will perform heart scans, ECGs, and heart rhythm checks, and support doctors with more complex tests.
  • You will help teach and guide junior staff and review their work.
  • You will help keep equipment safe and working well, and follow national and local guidelines.
  • You will take part in team meetings, training, audits, and research to keep skills up to date.
  • You will communicate clearly with patients and staff, using problem-solving skills to support good care. 

Salary: £49,387.00 – £56,515 per annum Closing Date: 04/06/2026 Job Ref: 223-HSP-653-C Location: Community Diagnostic Center/ The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital/ The Princess Royal Hospital Contract: Fixed term/ Secondment for 12 months Hours: 37.5 hours per werk
