Healthcare Scientists - Associate Practitioner in Respiratory and Sleep Services

Cardio-Respiratory Department (PRH)

  • The role involves helping to carry out breathing tests and supporting the sleep apnoea service.
  • You will work as part of a team and follow set standards to make sure tests are done safely and correctly.
  • You will help with tasks such as booking appointments, preparing equipment and keeping the area clean.
  • You will talk with patients, explain tests in a simple way and help reassure them during their visit.
  • You will learn to spot when a patient may need urgent help and pass information to senior staff.
  • You will also help with basic admin tasks, such as keeping records and managing supplies.

Healthcare Scientists - Medical Laboratory Technician

Cellular Pathology

  • The role supports the Cellular Pathology team by helping prepare and process patient samples under supervision.
  • You will carry out laboratory tasks such as receiving, labelling, cutting and preparing specimens while following strict safety rules.
  • You will use and maintain laboratory equipment safely after training, keeping work areas clean and well organised.
  • You will help with administrative duties like entering patient details, filing slides and handling phone enquiries.
  • You will take part in training and development to learn new skills and support junior staff when needed.
  • You will work as part of a wider team, communicating clearly and producing accurate work to support patient diagnosis.

Salary: £25,760.00 – £27,476 per annum Closing Date: 06/08/2026 Job Ref: 223- MLT-569 Location: The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital Contract: Permanent Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week (to be worked over a 6/7 day rotation this will include weekends and bank holidays)

Healthcare Scientists - Senior Radiotherapy Physicist

Radiotherapy Physics

  • The role helps make sure cancer patients get safe and accurate radiotherapy treatment.
  • It involves planning and checking treatment, measuring radiation doses and making sure all equipment works safely.
  • The job gives expert advice to doctors, radiographers and other staff about radiotherapy and how to keep people safe from radiation.
  • It also includes testing new machines, helping bring in new treatment methods and taking part in research.
  • The role supports training for other staff and helps improve how the radiotherapy service is run. 

Salary: £57,528.00 – £64,750 per annum Closing Date: 07/08/2026 Job Ref: 223-SRP -532 Location: Shrewsbury Contract: Permanent Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week (Four long days, 8am - 6pm)
