Healthcare Scientists - BANK Medical Laboratory Assistant - Blood Sciences

Temporary staffing

  • This role supports the hospital’s diagnostic service by helping with routine laboratory tasks.
  • You will handle and prepare patient samples, enter data, and use lab equipment after training. 
  • You’ll work as part of a team, following instructions from supervisors and written procedures.
  • You may work across different lab sites and be part of an out-of-hours rota, including nights and weekends. 
  • You’ll help keep the lab clean, safe, and well-stocked, and answer basic phone enquiries.
  • Accuracy, good communication, and following health and safety rules are important in this role.

Healthcare Scientists - Lead Biomedical Scientist Microbiology

Health Science Services

  • Deliver a safe and high‑quality laboratory service, making sure test results are accurate and reliable.
  • Provide expert scientific advice to doctors, managers, and other healthcare staff.
  • Lead and manage a team of staff, including recruitment, training, and performance.
  • Oversee one of the five key pathology areas: Biochemistry, Cellular Pathology, Haematology, Microbiology, or Transfusion.
  • Ensure the laboratory meets all regulatory standards and keeps its professional accreditation.
  • Support continuous improvement by planning resources, checking quality, and guiding staff development.

Healthcare Scientists - Senior Assistant Technical Officer

Cardiology

  • You will carry out heart, lung, and sleep tests using specialist equipment and record the results.
  • You will prepare patients for exercise and breathing tests and help with their care during these.
  • You will make sure all test results are processed quickly and correctly using computer systems.
  • You will keep equipment and clinical areas clean, safe, and ready to use, reporting any faults.
  • You will support the team with basic admin tasks like ordering supplies and recording patient visits.
  • You will follow hospital standards, training, and values while working respectfully with patients and staff.

Healthcare Scientists - Clinical Technologist (Dosimetrist)

Medical Physics Team

  • The role involves helping with treatment planning and mould room services, which support radiotherapy for patients.
  • You will make special shells and devices that keep patients still during treatment, and help plan safe and effective radiation treatments.
  • You will work with senior staff to supervise services, give advice, and support improvements in how care is delivered. Training and professional registration will be required, with support provided to achieve this.
  • You will also help train and guide junior staff, and take part in research and development projects.
  • The job requires careful attention to detail, good communication with patients and staff, and a commitment to high standards of safety and quality.
