Healthcare Scientists - Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist

Biochemistry

  • Help manage a specialist section of the laboratory and support senior staff with daily tasks.
  • Lead and guide a team, making sure work is done safely and correctly.
  • Use expert knowledge to carry out and check complex lab tests, and give advice when needed.
  • Train other staff and help them learn new skills in your area of work.
  • Make sure equipment and testing methods are working well and help choose new ones.
  • Work to improve the service and support other parts of the department when needed.

Healthcare Scientists - Clinical Vascular Scientist

Radiology

  • The role involves carrying out and reporting specialist vascular ultrasound scans on patients of all ages.
  • You will use your expert skills to understand scan results and help guide the next steps in a patient’s care.
  • You will support patients and their families by explaining tests and offering reassurance in a calm and professional way.
  • You will work across both hospital sites and be part of a wider team that includes sonographers, doctors and nurses.
  • You will help train others, take part in audits and meetings, and support the development of the vascular ultrasound service.
  • You will also use advanced equipment safely and accurately, while managing a busy workload and maintaining high standards of patient care.

Healthcare Scientists - Specialist Biomedical Scientist

Blood Sciences

  • This job involves helping to run important lab tests that support patient care.
  • You will learn to work in different parts of the lab, including blood testing and biochemistry, and you will need to work safely and follow set procedures.
  • You will sometimes work on your own, including during evenings, nights and weekends, and you may lead a small team when needed.
  • You will help train other staff, check the quality of test results and keep accurate records.
  • You will also take responsibility for a specialist area, such as quality, training or IT, and support the smooth running of the service at all times.

Salary: £38,682.00 – £46,580 per annum Closing Date: 23/02/2026 Job Ref: 223-SBS-149 Location: The Princess Royal Hospital Telford Contract: Permanent Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week (7 day working including days, lates, weekends, nights and bank holidays)
