The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is looking to appoint a Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our existing team. The Department of Gastroenterology provides a service to the county of Shropshire and Mid Wales and currently consists of 13 Consultant Gastroenterologists and 1 Consultant Hepatologist working across both hospital sites.
Contribution to an out of hours on call rota is core to this role.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for one 6-month locum acute paediatricians with interest to fit the department eg Paediatric Oncology, Gastroenterology, Respiratory or Child Protection. The post has arisen due to maternity leave however the post has been designed to attract the best and most appropriate person to compliment the department. It is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a large district general hospital with 15 acute paediatricians. It could also provide time for development of a sub-speciality. You will become part of a team and will work in what is one of the largest acute District General Hospital Paediatric departments in the County serving a catchment population of over 0.5 million.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust are seeking Teaching Fellows in Anaesthetics to support undergraduate teaching across a range of clinical and non-clinical settings over a 12-month fixed term contract based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The post also attracts an on call commitment of 1 in 16.

Successful applicants will be enrolled in the Keele University Teacher the Teachers Course and will be funded to study for the Keele Post Graduate Certificate of Medical Education. Consideration will also be given for funding of other relevant educational courses.

A formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and their Clinical Director and consultant colleagues, on behalf of the Medical Director within 3 months of starting in post. A full-time job plan is based on an 11PA working week. The job plan will be reviewed annually and is a prospective agreement that sets out the consultant's duties, responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year. It covers all aspects of a consultant’s professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. It will provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external and will include personal objectives, detailing links to wider service improvements and trust strategic priorities.

For a full-time contract, the job plan will be divided on average per week (pro-rata for a part time post) as:
•    8.5 Programmed Activities (PAs) of Direct Clinical Care - includes clinical activity, clinically related activity and predictable and unpredictable emergency work 1.5 PA oncall. 
•    2.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs) - includes CPD, audit, teaching and research.

The allocation of PAs is reviewed and may be subject to adjustment when a further diary exercise is undertaken or if the service demands a review of the team job plan.

We're seeking an enthusiastic physician with broad experience in respiratory and general medicine. The job plan is flexible and will be tailored collaboratively to align with both the Trust’s needs and your individual strengths. Candidates with expertise in bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, or pleural procedures are especially welcome to strengthen our current rota. Participation in the out-of-hours on-call rota is an essential part of this role.

A full-time Locum Consultant Clinical Oncologist is required for a Maternity Leave cover Fixed Term post at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and expected to start in May 2026. 

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust (SaTH) are looking to appoint two Consultants in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine to develop new and complement existing services presently being delivered to a high standard by a team of full time and part time consultants.

The posts are subject to a collective job-planning exercise but attract 10 Programmed Activities per week.  The posts are new posts, one primarily based at the Princess Royal Hospital and one primarily based at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, although it is a contractual requirement that all consultants newly appointed to the Trust must be prepared to work on either site.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust is looking for a part-time specialty doctor Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. The successful candidate will be required to be part of the middle grade on call cover for the specialty in a 1:6 capacity. This is a non-resident on call shift and is paid in addition to their standard contractual salary. There is shared responsibility with 4 other Specialty Doctors for daytime cover during normal working hours.
