Estates

Our estates services staff look after our hospital buildings and the grounds around them. Like any buildings, our hospitals need repairs and regular maintenance. As the needs of the NHS change, existing buildings need to be extended or renovated and new sites built. The building needs to be looked after – walls, floors and windows – as well as the systems inside them – heating, power and ventilation. All this work needs skilled staff, often from the construction sector.

Our hospitals need to be safe and welcoming for staff and patients. Any repairs need to be carried out to a high standard by skilled tradespeople. These roles include: carpenter/joiner jobs, electrician jobs, painter and decorator jobs, plumber jobs, as well as garden and grounds staff.

This is an exciting time to join the Trust as we have successfully secured more than £312m of investment from the Government for the reconfiguration of our two hospitals. This is your chance to be involved in a team responsible for major change within our hospitals.

Facilities

We provide a comprehensive range of facilities management services to ensure our NHS colleagues’ environments are clean, safe, warm and pleasant to work in so healthcare professionals can focus on delivering excellent patient care.

Our Facilities teams operate the cleaning, portering and catering services across the Trust, covering roles such as cleanliness technicians, porters, catering, admin and financial support and analysis.

Estates & Facilities - Estates Property Maintenance Apprentice

Operational Estates Management (RSH)

This apprenticeship gives you the chance to learn practical property maintenance skills while working in a busy hospital environment.
You will learn how to help maintain and repair building services and equipment across the Trust.
You will work alongside experienced Estates staff, receiving training, guidance and support as you develop your skills.
You will carry out a variety of maintenance tasks, including work on electrical, mechanical, plumbing and building systems.
You will help provide a safe, clean and well-maintained environment for patients, staff and visitors.
You will complete a recognised Property Maintenance Apprenticeship qualification through a combination of workplace learning, training sessions and assessments.

Estates & Facilities - Estates Manager (Operations) - Electrical

Operational Estates Management

This role leads the day-to-day electrical maintenance and repair of hospital buildings, equipment and services to help provide a safe and reliable environment for patients, staff and visitors.
The post holder manages a team of maintenance staff and contractors, making sure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
They help plan, organise and oversee maintenance projects, repairs and improvement works across the hospital site.
The role is responsible for ensuring buildings, systems and equipment meet NHS, health and safety, and legal compliance requirements.
They provide expert technical advice to colleagues, managers and other stakeholders on electrical and engineering matters.
The post holder supports continuous improvement, effective use of resources, and the delivery of high-quality estates and maintenance services across the Trust.

Estates & Facilities - Deputy Head of Facilities

Facilities Management Team

Lead and manage Catering, Cleaning, Portering, Logistics and Linen services across the Trust, making sure they are safe, effective and provide a positive experience for patients, staff and visitors.
Support and develop teams and managers, helping them deliver high quality services, meet performance targets and work in line with Trust values.
Monitor service quality, budgets and performance, using information and audits to identify improvements and ensure services provide value for money.
Work closely with colleagues, senior leaders and external organisations to develop services, improve efficiency and meet national standards and legal requirements.
Lead projects and service improvements to enhance patient experience, reduce waste, improve performance and support the Trust's long-term goals.
Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of Facilities Support Services, ensuring resources, staff and services are managed effectively across all Trust sites.

Estates & Facilities - Mechanically Biased Multi-Skilled Technician

Estates

The role is for a skilled maintenance technician who mainly works on mechanical engineering tasks but also helps with other building and electrical jobs.
You will look after heating, plumbing, and other systems across hospital sites, making sure equipment is safe and working well.
The job involves finding and fixing faults, carrying out repairs, and sometimes designing or installing new work.
You will work both on your own and with the wider team and may step in to support managers when needed.
The role includes being part of an on-call rota, responding to emergencies within 45 minutes.
Flexibility is important, as you may work at different sites, cover shifts, or assist other trades when required.
