Nursing and Midwifery - Sister/Charge Nurse - Stroke Unit

Stroke Unit

  • This role involves caring for patients and helping to lead the nursing team.
  • You will support the ward manager and help organise staff and daily tasks.
  • You will make sure patients get the care they need and that records are kept properly.
  • You will help train and support junior staff and students.
  • You will work with other teams to keep the ward running smoothly and safely.
  • You may take part in meetings, research and on-call duties when needed.

Acute Medical Unit

  • You will make sure the team works well together and uses time and resources wisely.
  • You will talk with patients, families, and staff to make sure everyone understands what’s happening.

  • You will communicate well with patients, families, and staff, offering support when things are difficult. You will help train and guide junior staff so the whole team can learn and improve.
  • You will work flexibly and may take part in the on‑call rota if the role is based in theatres.

  • Support and guide junior staff while learning and improving your own skills.
  • Be flexible, responsible and ready to act when things change or problems arise.

Nursing and Midwifery - Critical Care Outreach Practitioner

Critical Care Outreach Practitioner Team (RSH)

  • This role provides expert care to very unwell adult patients across the Trust at any time of day or night.
  • It involves assessing patients, carrying out tests, and starting treatments to stop their condition from getting worse.
  • The role supports safe and timely movement of patients into and out of Critical Care and responds to emergency calls.
  • It includes prescribing medicines, using specialist equipment and skills, and working closely with many different clinical teams.
  • The post holder helps train and guide other staff, supports teamwork, and takes part in improving services through audits and projects.
  • They communicate clearly and sensitively with patients, families, and staff, helping to ensure safe, high‑quality care.

Salary: £47,810.00 – £54,710 per annum Closing Date: 09/03/2026 Job Ref: 223-CCP-124 Location: The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with cross-site working required Contract: Permanent Hours: 37.5
