Nursing and Midwifery - Sister/Charge Nurse - Nephrology (Internal Only)

Ward 35 Nephrology (RSH)

  • To function as a competent clinical practitioner within their designated clinical area.
  • To deliver direct patient care whilst, co-ordinating and overseeing nursing/theatre practice.
  • To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of clinical activities during their span of duty.
  • To ensure that there is efficient and effective utilisation of resources to deliver optimum quality care to their client group.
  • To deputise for the ward/ department manager in his / her absence, driving forward evidence-based practice and taking responsibility for the supervision of staff and the policies and practices that operate within their clinical area.
  • To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
  • To participate in the on-call rota if post within theatres

Nursing and Midwifery - Stroke Nurse *INTERNAL ONLY POST*

Specialist Nurses - Stroke

  • Provide expert nursing care and support for patients who have had a stroke, helping them through diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
  • Assess patients’ needs, plan and review their care, and make clinical decisions to ensure they receive safe and effective treatment.
  • Work closely with patients, families, carers and healthcare teams to coordinate care, support discharge planning and promote independence.
  • Run nurse-led stroke and TIA clinics, offering specialist advice, education and guidance to patients and healthcare professionals across the Trust.
  • Support the development of stroke services by helping to improve care, sharing specialist knowledge, carrying out audits and contributing to research projects.
  • Teach, train and support nursing staff, students and colleagues, helping to maintain high standards of stroke care throughout the Trust.

Nursing and Midwifery - Practice Education Facilitator for Postgraduate Medical Education

Postgraduate Medical Education

  • Support Foundation Doctors to develop the clinical skills and confidence they need to provide safe and effective patient care.
  • Plan and deliver practical clinical skills teaching, assessments and training sessions in both classroom and clinical environments.
  • Lead and support simulation-based learning sessions, helping doctors learn from realistic scenarios and improve their decision-making.
  • Work closely with education teams, clinical staff and medical students to provide high-quality learning opportunities across the Trust.
  • Help develop, organise and evaluate training programmes, ensuring they meet curriculum requirements and support continuous improvement.
  • Act as a clinical and educational role model, offering guidance, support and expert advice to doctors and other healthcare staff.

Nursing and Midwifery - Haemodialysis Clinical Practitioner Band 7

Renal Dialysis Unit

  • Lead the haemodialysis service, providing expert care and support for patients receiving kidney dialysis treatment.
  • Assess patients’ needs, plan and oversee their care, and make sure treatment is safe, effective and delivered to a high standard.
  • Support, guide and supervise nursing staff, helping them develop their skills and provide excellent patient care.
  • Work closely with doctors and the wider healthcare team to improve services, review practice and ensure care follows national and local guidelines.
  • Manage the day-to-day running of the unit, including staff planning, patient schedules, equipment and supplies, to ensure services run smoothly.
  • Act as a senior clinical leader, supporting service development, handling incidents and concerns, and deputising for the Renal Unit Manager when required.

Nursing and Midwifery - Sister/Charge Nurse - Emergency Department

Emergency Medicine

  • This role involves caring for patients and helping to lead the nursing team.
  • You will support the ward manager and help organise staff and daily tasks.
  • You will make sure patients get the care they need and that records are kept properly.
  • You will help train and support junior staff and students.
  • You will work with other teams to keep the ward running smoothly and safely.
  • You may take part in meetings, research and on-call duties when needed.

Nursing and Midwifery - Infant Feeding Specialist Midwife

Midwifery

  • Support mothers and families with breastfeeding and infant feeding, including providing specialist advice for babies with feeding difficulties.
  • Help deliver and maintain UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative standards across the Trust to ensure high-quality, consistent care for all families.
  • Work closely with midwives, maternity, neonatal and paediatric teams to improve feeding support and breastfeeding outcomes.
  • Provide training, guidance and expert advice to staff, helping them develop the knowledge and skills needed to support infant feeding.
  • Carry out audits, gather feedback from families and staff, and support service improvements to ensure care meets local and national standards.
  • Promote positive communication, partnership working and evidence-based practice to give babies and families the best possible start.

Nursing and Midwifery - Transformation Lead Nurse

Transformation Lead Nurse

  • Lead and support the transformation of Medicine, Emergency and Acute Care services, helping to improve how care is delivered for patients.
  • Provide strong nursing leadership, working with clinical and operational teams to deliver service improvements and achieve strategic goals.
  • Work with senior leaders to plan and develop a skilled workforce, supporting recruitment, retention, training and career development.
  • Lead complex change programmes, using evidence and best practice to redesign services and improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Monitor progress, manage risks and ensure strong governance arrangements are in place to support successful delivery of transformation projects.
  • Build effective relationships with staff, patients and partner organisations, promoting engagement, collaboration and high-quality care across services.

Acute Medical Unit (AMU) (RSH)

  • The role involves caring for patients by checking their needs, planning their care, and keeping them safe at all times. 
  • You will work closely with patients, their families, and the wider team, making sure any changes in a patient’s condition are acted on quickly. 
  • You will act professionally, follow nursing standards, and speak up for patients to protect their dignity and wishes. 
  • You will help teach and support junior staff and students, while also keeping your own skills and training up to date. 
  • You will help lead the team, manage your workload, and make sure the ward runs safely and smoothly. 
  • You will communicate clearly with patients, families, and colleagues, keeping accurate records and sharing information in the right way.
