Nursing and Midwifery - Senior Moving and Handling Advisor

Manual Handling Team

  • Support staff across the Trust to move and handle patients and equipment safely in clinical and non-clinical areas. 
  • Give clear advice on safe moving and handling practices, risk assessments and correct use of equipment. 
  • Help deliver, support and check moving and handling training in classrooms and workplaces. 
  • Work with wards and departments to check standards through audits, inspections and incident reviews. 
  • Provide specialist support for complex patient handling situations, working with staff, patients and carers. 
  • Work closely with the Moving and Handling Lead and team to improve safety and reduce the risk of injury across the Trust.

Nursing and Midwifery - Gynaecology Outpatients Sister

Gynaecology Outpatient Department

  • To function as a competent clinical practitioner within their designated clinical area.
  • To deliver direct patient care whilst, co-ordinating and overseeing nursing/theatre practice.
  • To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of clinical activities during their span of duty.
  • To ensure that there is efficient and effective utilisation of resources to deliver optimum quality care to their client group.
  • To deputise for the ward/ department manager in his / her absence, driving forward evidence-based practice and taking responsibility for the supervision of staff and the policies and practices that operate within their clinical area.
  • To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

Nursing and Midwifery - Emergency Department Paediatric Sister/Charge Nurse

Accident & Emergency Department

  • Provide safe, high‑quality care to patients while leading nursing or theatre care during each shift 
  • Take charge of the ward or department on duty, making sure patient care runs smoothly and safely 
  • Organise and support staff each day, using skills and resources in the best way possible 
  • Step in for the ward or department manager when needed and act as a clear point of contact 
  • Support, supervise, and develop staff so they work to the right standards and policies 
  • Work closely with other healthcare teams to improve services and the patient experience

Midwifery

  • The role supports midwives and students by helping them learn well and give safe, high-quality care.
  • It involves planning and running training sessions, workshops and simulations for different staff groups.
  • The job includes leading support for student midwives and making sure their placements are well organised and meet national standards.
  • It also involves working with many teams and organisations to keep training up to date and based on the best evidence.
  • The role requires good communication, strong IT skills and the ability to work independently while managing a busy workload.

  • The role involves caring for patients by checking their needs, planning their care, and keeping them safe at all times.
  • You will work closely with patients, their families, and the wider team, making sure any changes in a patient’s condition are acted on quickly.
  • You will act professionally, follow nursing standards, and speak up for patients to protect their dignity and wishes.
  • You will help teach and support junior staff and students, while also keeping your own skills and training up to date.
  • You will help lead the team, manage your workload, and make sure the ward runs safely and smoothly.

Gynaecology

  • To work flexibly to teach and facilitate learning for all staff with a focus on the development of clinical/practice skills and the promotion of quality learning environments.
  • To work closely with Matron, Ward and Unit Leads and learning and development to provide expert advise and teaching in clinical practice across the division.
  • To plan, develop and implement and deliver training programs for health care staff across the organisation.
  • To contribute towards the Trust Nursing and Midwifery Education Strategy to ensure there is effective and proactive development and training within the division

  • You will talk with patients, families, and staff to make sure everyone understands what’s happening.

Nursing and Midwifery - Ophthalmic Sister / Charge Nurse - Urgent Eye Care Clinic (Internal Only)

Outpatients Ophthalmology

  • Provide safe, high-quality care to patients attending the Urgent Eye Clinic and general eye outpatient services.
  • Assess, treat and manage a range of eye conditions, and decide when patients can be discharged or need further care.
  • Work closely with doctors and the wider team to ensure patients receive the right care at the right time.
  • Support the day-to-day running of the clinic, including guiding and supervising junior staff when needed.
  • Communicate clearly and kindly with patients and their families, offering advice and reassurance.
  • Help maintain a safe, organised and efficient service, using resources responsibly and following best practice.
