The Endoscopy Unit at The Princess Royal  Hospital, Telford are looking to recruit a  full time Band 3 Nursing Assistant to join their team.  

Along with your previous experience of working with adults in an Endoscopy or similar environment, candidates should possess GCSE's in Maths and English (Grades A-C or Grades 9 - 4 or equivalent) and an NVQ 3 in Healthcare or  willing to work towards this.  The successful applicants will have  drive and enthusiasm, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and in return we will be able to offer you support towards your professional development.

The Endoscopy unit is currently open 08:00-18:00 Monday - Sunday (7 day working), including bank holidays. The unit currently provides a service for both out-patients and in-patients including the following procedures; Endoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy, Bronchoscopy and EBUS, PEG insertions, ERCP, EUS and EMR.  Patient care, experience and staff well-being are at the forefront of our philosophy.  This has been recently demonstrated with us gaining our JAG accreditation and a Values in Practice award for safety.

We have x1 permanent full time position and x1 permanent part time position for Band 2 Technicians in the Decontamination area of the Endoscopy unit.  We also have a one year fixed term/ secondment position available to cover maternity leave. 

You must be conscientious and have the ability to give attention to detail.   You will need to have a good standard of education (including literacy and numeracy), and the ability to work to tight deadlines.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well within a team are essential.  You must also have excellent documentation and record keeping skills.  We will provide in house training, fully supporting your professional development. This is an exciting time to join the team as we redevelop and relaunch the service and work towards establishing and embedding a 24/7 Critical Care Outreach service Trust wide. We are looking for a compassionate, enthusiastic, driven individual who is passionate about making a difference to the care of the acutely unwell and deteriorating patients. 

Our CCOT is a proactive service that provides early recognition, assessment, and management of the deteriorating patient Trust wide.  As a CCOP, you are responsible for delivering patient-focused programmes of care, which address the complex and changing health and wellbeing needs of the deteriorating and critically ill patients throughout the Trust.

Providing autonomous specialist advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to the acutely ill, deteriorating patients and their relatives/carers in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

Assisting and facilitating timely admission to the critical care area and involve the appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team in the decision-making process when determining escalation plans to prevent further deterioration.
