Ward 24 Respiratory

• The role provides hands-on care to patients while helping to organise and oversee daily nursing or theatre work.

• It involves making sure care is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard during each shift.

• The post holder will support the ward or department manager by supervising staff, helping with policies and promoting good practice.

• They will use resources wisely to give patients the best possible care.

• The role also requires working flexibly to meet the needs of the service and stepping in to lead when the manager is away.

Nursing and Midwifery - Head of Midwifery

Midwifery

  • Lead midwifery services across the Trust to make sure care for mothers and babies is safe, high quality, and well organised.
  • Help plan how maternity services should run in the future, working with senior leaders to design and improve services.
  • Support and guide midwifery staff, acting as a visible leader and role model, and ensuring teams meet national and local standards.
  • Improve patient experience by listening to feedback, using research, and making changes that support better care.
  • Oversee governance, safety, and risk management to make sure services follow policies and keep patients safe, as reflected in the requirement to “ensure that clinical and non-clinical risk is reported, monitored and managed effectively.”
  • Manage resources and budgets responsibly to ensure services run efficiently and provide good value for public money.

Nursing and Midwifery - Nutrition Clinical Nurse Specialist

Nutrition

  • This role helps deliver safe, high-quality nutrition care for patients who need tube feeding or IV nutrition.
  • It involves assessing patients, planning their care and supporting staff across the hospital with specialist advice.
  • The post holder works closely with nurses, doctors, dietitians and other teams to make sure patients get the right nutrition support.
  • They will also help teach and train staff, support service development and act as a resource for complex feeding needs. 
  • The role includes working independently, making clinical decisions and helping to run a seven-day nutrition service.

• The role supports children and young people with hormone (endocrine) conditions and their families, both in hospital and at home.

• It involves giving specialist nursing care, teaching families how to manage medicines safely, and helping them understand their condition.

• The nurse works closely with doctors, ward teams and specialist centres to make sure each child receives safe, high‑quality care.

• The role also includes taking part in clinics, carrying out some clinical tests, and helping young people move safely from children’s to adult services.
