Clinical Support - Healthcare Assistant - Acute Floor

Acute Assessment Unit

  • This role supports registered nurses in providing safe and caring support to patients. 
  • It involves helping patients with everyday needs such as washing, eating, drinking and moving safely. 
  • You will check and record basic health information and report any concerns to a nurse. 
  • The job includes keeping the ward clean, tidy and well-organised, and helping with basic admin tasks. 
  • You will work flexibly across different wards and follow all training, policies and safety rules. 
  • Good communication, kindness and respect for patients and their individual needs are essential.

Clinical Support - Medical Laboratory Assistant - Blood Sciences

Pathology - Blood Sciences

  • The role supports the hospital’s laboratory service by helping with everyday tasks that keep tests running smoothly.
  • You will handle patient samples, label them, enter details on the computer and prepare them for testing.
  • You will work with different teams in Pathology and may move between the department’s three laboratory sites.
  • You will follow written and verbal instructions, keep good records and help look after equipment and supplies.
  • You will take part in out-of-hours shifts, including evenings, nights and weekends, once trained.
  • You must follow safety rules at all times and help keep the working area clean and well organised.

Clinical Support - Ultrasound Assistant - Internal only

Ultrasound

  • Support the ultrasound team to provide safe, caring and well‑organised care for patients having non‑obstetric ultrasound scans and procedures.
  • Welcome patients, check their details, and help them feel calm, safe and respected during their visit. 
  • Prepare rooms, equipment and sterile trolleys, and help keep areas clean and ready for use. 
  • Assist staff during ultrasound‑guided procedures and help care for patients before and after their tests. 
  • Help move patients safely and make sure their privacy, dignity and comfort are always protected. • Work as part of a busy team, follow hospital rules, and support the department during normal and out‑of‑hours work.

Clinical Support - Children's Nursing Assistant

Paediatrics

  • Supports registered nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide safe, high quality care for children and young people in hospital.
  • Helps children with their personal care, including washing, dressing, eating, drinking and moving around, while promoting comfort, dignity and wellbeing.
  • Carries out a range of clinical tasks and patient observations following training and assessment, reporting any concerns promptly to the registered nurse.
  • Communicates kindly and effectively with children, parents, carers and colleagues, providing reassurance, emotional support and information when needed.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and welcoming ward environment, assists with administrative duties and helps ensure equipment and supplies are available.
  • Works as part of a multidisciplinary team, follows safeguarding and confidentiality requirements, and takes part in ongoing training and development.

Clinical Support - Healthcare Support Worker

  • This role supports nurses in giving care to patients in hospital wards.
  • You will help patients with washing, eating, drinking and going to the toilet. 
  • You will check and record things like temperature, pulse and blood pressure. 
  • You will help move patients safely and take them to other parts of the hospital. 
  • You will keep the ward clean and tidy and help with paperwork and phone calls.
  • You will work with nurses and other staff to make sure patients feel safe and cared for.

Clinical Support - Bank Facilities Assistant - Portering

  • To assist the Chargehand Porters with the training and induction of new staff for an initial period until they feel confident to carry out the duties on their own.
  • To collect and deliver hostess trolleys and crockery trolleys between the wards and the Catering Department.
  •  To collect dirty linen and general refuse from all wards and departments disposal cupboards and the accommodation block and dispose of in the compactor located in the loading bay area. Dirty 
  • linen to be loaded into linen cages and placed on the loading bay awaiting collection.
  • To circulate mail and clerical data to all wards and departments within the hospital and collect and deliver mail off site.

  • The Maternity Care Assistant helps midwives to care for women and their babies in a safe and supportive way.

Clinical Support - Emergency Care Technician - Emergency Department, Shrewsbury

Emergency Department

  • Supports patients of all ages who attend the Emergency Department with illness or injury, working as part of a 24-hour service.
  • Works closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to help assess, care for and support patients during their treatment.
  • Provides kind, safe and high-quality care, including helping patients who may be upset, distressed or anxious.
  • Uses a range of clinical skills and equipment, following training, to support patient care and treatment.

Clinical Support - Assistant Practitioner in Speech and Language Therapy

Therapy SLT Outpatients & Community

  • Assess patients with communication or swallowing difficulties and provide treatment plans to help them improve and meet their goals.
  • Manage your own caseload, planning and delivering care in community hospitals, care homes, outpatient clinics and patients’ homes, with support from senior Speech and Language Therapists when needed.
  •  Monitor patient progress, review treatment plans and make changes where appropriate to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, carers and other healthcare professionals, adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, follow Trust policies and contribute to service improvement, quality standards and clinical audits.

Clinical Support - Pharmacy Support Officer (Aseptic)

Pharmacy Aseptics/QA Team

  • Support the preparation and supply of medicines and related products within the Aseptic Services pharmacy team.
  • Help manage stock by ordering, receiving, storing and replenishing medicines and supplies, while keeping accurate records.
  • Use pharmacy computer systems to update stock information, process deliveries and produce labels and documentation.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety in aseptic cleanrooms, including cleaning, disinfecting and carrying out routine quality checks.
  • Assist with the packaging, distribution and transport of medicines, prescriptions and other pharmacy products
  • Work as part of a team to provide a reliable service, including covering for colleagues when needed and supporting weekend and bank holiday working.
