Clinical Support - Healthy Pregnancy Support Practitioner (Internal Only)

Specialist Midwives

  • Support pregnant women and their families to make healthy choices during pregnancy 
  •  Work in the community and in people’s homes, alongside midwives and other health staff 
  •  Help women to stop smoking using proven support, advice and treatments 
  •  Give clear advice on healthy food, safe exercise, weight gain and taking vitamins 
  •  Encourage breastfeeding, safe baby care and recommended vaccinations 
  •  Keep clear records, share concerns with the right professionals and help reduce health inequalities

Clinical Support - Healthcare Assistant - Surgical Assessment & Short Stay Surgical

Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) & Short Stay Surgical

  • This role supports ward teams by helping patients with everyday care such as washing, eating, drinking and using the toilet.
  • You will check and record basic health observations and report any concerns to a nurse.
  • You will help keep patients safe and comfortable by moving them correctly, keeping the ward tidy and preparing equipment.
  • You will also support nurses with simple administrative tasks like updating records and answering the phone.
  • You will follow training, work within Trust policies and communicate kindly with patients, families and staff.
  • You will manage your own tasks during each shift and help create a calm, clean and supportive environment

Clinical Support - Trainee Ophthalmic Assistant - Ophthalmology Outpatients

Outpatients Ophthalmology

  • This role supports patients as they move through the eye clinic, helping them feel safe, comfortable, and informed.
  • You will help nurses with basic care tasks, such as taking observations and assisting with mobility.
  • You will talk with patients and their families, helping them understand what is happening and where they need to go.
  • You will keep patient information private and help with simple admin tasks like checking clinic lists and keeping records up to date.
  • You will help keep the clinic clean, tidy, and well stocked, and prepare equipment for use.
  • You will learn new eye‑care skills, such as checking vision, helping with scans, and supporting minor eye procedures.

Clinical Support - Pharmacy Support Officer (Distribution and Stores)

Pharmacy

  • The role supports pharmacy technicians and pharmacists by helping to prepare, deliver and manage medicines across the hospital.
  • It involves keeping stock levels safe and organised, delivering medicines to wards, and carrying out basic dispensing tasks under supervision.
  • The post holder will follow set procedures at all times to keep patients and staff safe.
  • They will also help with reception duties, answer routine enquiries, and work with many different healthcare staff.
  • Training is provided, including completing the NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services.

Salary: £25,272.00 – £25,272 per annum Closing Date: 02/06/2026 Job Ref: 223-PHS-402 Location: The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital Contract: Permanent Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday with 1 in 4 Saturdays)

Clinical Support - Apprentice Operating Department Practitioner - INTERNAL

Theatres

  • The role is a three-year apprenticeship where you work and study to become a Registered Operating Department Practitioner.
  • You will learn in hospital theatres and on different placements while also studying at Staffordshire University.
  • You will help keep patients safe and cared for before, during and after surgery, always working under supervision as you build your skills.
  • You must complete all parts of the course, meet professional standards and show the right values and behaviour.
  • You will work as part of a team, learn new skills, and take responsibility for your own learning.
  • When you finish the apprenticeship and meet all requirements, you may be able to move into a full-time role.

Clinical Support - Operating Department Orderly

Theatres

  • The role supports the theatre team by helping to keep patients safe before, during and after surgery.
  • It involves moving patients safely, preparing equipment and keeping the theatre clean and ready to use.
  • The post holder will follow health and safety rules, report any problems and keep accurate records.
  • They will work with nurses and other staff to make sure the department runs smoothly and that patients are treated with care and respect.
  • The role also includes checking stock, helping with equipment and taking part in training to build skills.
