The Microbiology department is looking for enthusiastic, passionate and hard working Associate Practitioners with a dedication to Microbiology.
The laboratory processes over 380,000 samples per year, in Bacteriology, Molecular, Serology and Mycology, providing services to around 650,000 people through the Trust's two hospital sites (Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital in Telford), and Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, as well as our community patients in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, and Powys.
The Microbiology laboratory uses equipment including the BD Bactec FX blood culture system, Bruker MALDI-ToF, BioMerieux VIDAS3 and Cepheid GeneXpert. The successful applicants will be expected to rotate around all sections of the laboratory, to include Serology, Molecular, MRSA reading and Respiratory.
After a period of sufficient training, supervision and competency assessment, the successful applicants are expected to participate in the weekend and bank holiday rotas. Participation in late shifts is expected if required.
