Clinical Support - TB Healthcare Assistant Band 3

Respiratory

  • The role supports the TB nursing team by helping with patient tests, collecting results and keeping records up to date.
  • It involves talking with patients and families in a kind and respectful way, while always protecting their privacy.
  • The post holder will help with clinical tasks, such as phlebotomy, once trained and assessed as competent.
  • They will also support the team with administrative duties, including using computer systems and handling phone calls.
  • The job requires good communication, safe decision-making and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • The post holder must be willing to learn new skills and take part in ongoing training to support high-quality patient care.

Clinical Support - Radiotherapy Engineering Apprentice

Radiotherapy

  • The role is a three-year apprenticeship where you work towards a Healthcare Science Practitioner Degree in Radiation Engineering.
  • You will learn how to help maintain, test and repair radiotherapy and medical equipment in a hospital.
  • You will work mainly at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but may visit other hospitals to gain experience.
  • You will support engineers with tasks like equipment checks, repairs, record keeping and making radiotherapy aids.
  • You will learn to work safely, follow health and safety rules and communicate well with different hospital teams.
  • To be offered a full-time job at the end, you must complete the degree and show you can carry out all parts of the role confidently.

Clinical Support - Medical Laboratory Assistant - Blood Sciences

Pathology - Blood Sciences

  • The role supports the hospital’s laboratory service by helping with everyday tasks that keep tests running smoothly.
  • You will handle patient samples, label them, enter details on the computer and prepare them for testing.
  • You will work with different teams in Pathology and may move between the department’s three laboratory sites.
  • You will follow written and verbal instructions, keep good records and help look after equipment and supplies.
  • You will take part in out-of-hours shifts, including evenings, nights and weekends, once trained.
  • You must follow safety rules at all times and help keep the working area clean and well organised.

Clinical Support - Pharmacy Technician - Aseptic Services and Cancer

Pharmacy Aseptics/QA Team

  • This role supports pharmacists and senior technicians to make sure patients receive the right medicines safely and on time.
  • You will dispense, prepare and check medicines, including specialist treatments such as chemotherapy and sterile products.
  • You will speak with patients and carers, explain how to use medicines safely, and help manage medicines when patients are admitted or discharged.
  • You will work independently each day, follow strict safety and quality rules, and help keep the pharmacy running smoothly.
  • You will support and train other staff, work as part of a team, and help improve pharmacy and cancer services.
  • You will be flexible and take part in weekend, evening and bank holiday rotas to support safe patient care.

Clinical Support - Acute Frailty Coordinator

Frailty Team

  • This role supports the care of older, frail patients by helping with assessments and making sure their journey through hospital is smooth and timely.
  • It involves gathering patient information, coordinating with doctors, nurses, social services and families, and ensuring patients get the right support for their needs.
  • The job focuses on preventing problems during hospital stays, such as loss of strength or independence, and making sure patients are treated with dignity and respect.
  • You will attend daily team meetings, share updates, and help plan safe discharges.
  • The role also requires spotting and escalating any concerns, while using community resources to support patients and their families.

Clinical Support - TB Clinical Support Worker

Respiratory

  • The role supports the TB nursing team by helping with both clinical and admin tasks.
  • You will prepare and record test requests, collect results, and help patients get ready for treatment.
  • You will talk with patients, families and staff in a respectful and clear way, making sure information is understood.
  • You will help keep patients safe by noticing and reporting any problems in their environment.
  • You will keep equipment and supplies stocked, support audits, and use computer systems to record patient information.
  • You will work mainly on the RSH and PRH sites, with some visits to patients in the community when needed.

Clinical Support - Healthcare Assistant - Accident and Emergency

Accident and Emergency

  • This role supports registered nurses in providing safe and caring support to patients.
  • It involves helping patients with everyday needs such as washing, eating, drinking and moving safely.
  • You will check and record basic health information and report any concerns to a nurse.
  • The job includes keeping the ward clean, tidy and well-organised, and helping with basic admin tasks.
  • You will work flexibly across different wards and follow all training, policies and safety rules.
  • Good communication, kindness and respect for patients and their individual needs are essential.

Clinical Support - Registered Dental Nurse

Oral Department

  • This role supports dental and medical staff in outpatient clinics at two hospitals.
  • You will help with dental surgeries, orthodontic treatments, and other specialist procedures.
  • You’ll prepare equipment, keep records, and make sure clinics run smoothly.
  • You’ll work closely with patients, including those who may be nervous or need extra support.
  • You’ll follow safety rules and help keep the clinic clean and organised.
  • You’ll also help train new staff and take part in learning and development activities.
