Clinical Support - Clinical Skills Technician

Under Graduate Medical School (UGMS)

  • The role supports the Clinical Skills team by helping set up and tidy away equipment used for teaching medical students.
  • It includes looking after equipment, reporting faults, and keeping the skills lab clean and well organised.
  • You will help order and check stock so that teaching sessions always have what they need.
  • You will support tutors and medical students during skills teaching, simulation sessions, and practical exams.
  • You will work with patient volunteers and help make sure they are safe and comfortable.
  • You will be part of a small, friendly team and may help with general office tasks when needed.

Clinical Support - Phlebotomist - Shrewsbury

Phlebotomy

  • Collects blood samples from adults and children safely and accurately as part of daily clinical work
  • Labels, records and delivers samples to the laboratory using different hospital systems
  • Follows health and safety rules and keeps the work area clean to protect patients and staff
  • Works different shifts, including weekends and holidays, as part of a shared team rota
  • Communicates well with patients, staff and the wider team to keep work running smoothly
  • Keeps skills up to date through training and supports others as part of ongoing development

Clinical Support - Clinical Site Manager (Internal only)

Clinical Site Management

  • This role helps manage hospital operations during out-of-hours times, making sure everything runs smoothly.
  • It supports staff and patients by helping with bed space, patient movement, and safe care.
  • The person in this role works closely with different teams to solve problems and keep services going.
  • They help patients get the right care in the right place and make sure discharges happen safely and quickly.
  • They also follow hospital rules and help with emergencies when needed.
  • This role involves working across hospital sites and being a key contact for staff, patients, and families.

Clinical Support - Pharmacy Support Officer (Aseptic)

Pharmacy Aseptics/QA Team (RSH)

  • This role helps prepare and handle medicines safely in both the aseptic and dispensary areas.
  • It involves supporting the making of specialist medicines, including chemotherapy and radioactive products.
  • The job includes putting together medicine orders, keeping stock organised, and using computer systems to record items.
  • It also involves helping with deliveries, cleaning work areas, and carrying out basic quality checks.
  • You will work as part of a team, follow set procedures, and help cover duties when other staff are away.

Clinical Support - Healthcare Assistant - Acute Medical Unit

Acute Medicine

  • This role supports nurses by helping to care for patients in hospital wards and departments.
  • You will help patients with washing, eating, drinking, and going to the toilet.
  • You will check and record things like temperature, blood pressure, and other health signs.
  • You will help move patients safely and take them to other areas when needed.
  • You will help keep the ward clean, tidy, and ready for care and procedures.
  • You will also help with basic paperwork and talk kindly with patients, families, and staff.

Clinical Support - Dialysis Assistant

Renal Dialysis Unit

  • Help nurses provide safe and high-quality care for patients during dialysis
  • Assist with preparing equipment and supplies for dialysis treatments.
  • Support patients with basic needs like hygiene, comfort, and mobility.
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis, and report any concerns to senior staff.
  • Keep the unit clean, stocked, and ready for treatments, following hospital safety rules.
  • Complete the Renal Unit Accreditation Programme within 6–12 months to develop your skills.

Clinical Support - Healthcare Assistant - Ward 9, Care of the Older Adult

Ward 9 - Frail and Complex (PRH)

  • This role supports ward teams by helping patients with everyday care such as washing, eating, drinking and using the toilet.
  • You will check and record basic health observations and report any concerns to a nurse.
  • You will help keep patients safe and comfortable by moving them correctly, keeping the ward tidy and preparing equipment.
  • You will also support nurses with simple administrative tasks like updating records and answering the phone.
  • You will follow training, work within Trust policies and communicate kindly with patients, families and staff.
  • You will manage your own tasks during each shift and help create a calm, clean and supportive environment
