Clinical Support - Assistant Practitioner Critical Care - Maternity cover

Therapy Inpatient Assistants

  • To assess plan implement and progress treatment programmes for specific patient groups, working within designated protocols without direct supervision.
  • To hold responsibility for own caseload with access to and support from a qualified Therapist
  • To work within agreed protocols and own competencies referring cases that progress to be complex back to the Therapist or to continue after advice has been given.
  • To demonstrate own duties to other support workers, students and to provide practical training and education to staff, patients and carers and external agencies when required.
  • To assist when required in audit and make recommendations to team co-ordinator for service improvements to contribute to the implementation of specific changes to practice and or protocols.

Clinical Support - Trainee Ophthalmic Assistant - fixed term 9 months

Ophthalmology

  • This role supports patients as they move through the eye clinic, helping them feel safe, comfortable, and informed.
  • You will help nurses with basic care tasks, such as taking observations and assisting with mobility.
  • You will talk with patients and their families, helping them understand what is happening and where they need to go.
  • You will keep patient information private and help with simple admin tasks like checking clinic lists and keeping records up to date.
  • You will help keep the clinic clean, tidy, and well stocked, and prepare equipment for use.
  • You will learn new eye‑care skills, such as checking vision, helping with scans, and supporting minor eye procedures.

Salary: £24,937.00 – £26,598 per annum Closing Date: 13/03/2026 Job Ref: 223-TOS-096 Location: The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital Contract: Fixed term: 9 months (To cover maternity leave) Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week (4 variable days Monday - Friday. Rotational weekends, Some evening work may be required.)

Clinical Support - Healthcare Assistant - Acute Medicine

Ward 22 - Short Stay (RSH)

  • This role supports nurses by helping to care for patients in hospital wards and departments.
  • You will help patients with washing, eating, drinking, and going to the toilet.
  • You will check and record things like temperature, blood pressure, and other health signs.
  • You will help move patients safely and take them to other areas when needed.
  • You will help keep the ward clean, tidy, and ready for care and procedures.
  • You will also help with basic paperwork and talk kindly with patients, families, and staff.

Clinical Support - Healthcare Assistant

Acute Medical Unit (AMU) (RSH)

  • This role supports nurses by helping to care for patients in hospital wards and departments.
  • You will help patients with washing, eating, drinking, and going to the toilet.

Clinical Support - Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist

Cardio-Respiratory Department

  • This role involves carrying out a wide range of heart tests, including advanced scans, on your own and with cardiologists.
  • You will perform and report echocardiograms in different settings, and support more complex heart scans when needed.
  • You will record and review tests such as ECGs, Holter monitors and exercise tests.
  • You will help guide and support junior staff, review their reports and take part in their training and development.
  • You will help keep equipment safe and working well, follow national and local guidelines, and take part in audits and research.
  • You must follow all Trust policies for safety, infection control, information security and dignity at work, helping to keep patients and staff safe. 

Salary: £47,810.00 – £54,710 per annum Closing Date: 17/03/2026 Job Ref: 223-SCP-197 Location: Telford Contract: 12 month fixed term (secondments considered for internal applicants (to cover maternity)) Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Clinical Support - Radiology Patient Transfer Assistant

Radiology

  • The role involves safely moving patients between radiology, wards and clinics, making sure they are comfortable and supported during their journey.
  • It requires giving clear handovers to staff so everyone understands the patient’s needs.
  • You will use hospital computer systems to record patient details and help keep equipment clean and ready to use.
  • The job includes helping patients in examination rooms and acting as a chaperone when needed.
  • You will communicate with many different teams and reassure patients who may be worried or upset.
  • The role involves physical work such as pushing wheelchairs and trolleys and helping patients move safely.

Salary: £24,465.00 – £24,465 per annum Closing Date: 17/03/2026 Job Ref: 223-RPT-199 Location: The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital Contract: Permanent Hours: 37.5 hours per week (to be worked in shifts over 5 days per week (includes Weekend, Bank Holiday and Night shifts))
