Job overview

We are looking for a motivated ,enthusiastic and patient-centred MSK hand therapist who would like to further develop their knowledge and skills within a an experienced and supportive team. The post would be suitable for either an occupational therapist or a physiotherapist with a special interest in hand therapy. 

This post is part of the  system wide MSK service in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and will include the management of both primary and secondary care referrals.

Main duties of the job

As a specialist band 6 hand therapist you will be integral to delivering MSK services at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust. You will have a varied caseload of both consultant and GP referrals, including acute trauma referrals and referrals for post operative rehabilitation, with a focus on providing quality rehabilitation to maximise daily function. You will independently assess a range of hand conditions and then formulate appropriate management plans in conjunction with the patient.Treatments will be delivered in individual appointments and in group classes. 

 The department has close links with HEI's providing clinical placements for undergraduate students.  We are committed to allocated CPD time, clinical outcomes and providing a responsive patient focused service.

Our hand therapy unit is located within our outpatient therapy department which has a very experienced team including band 5 to band 8B therapists and support workers from band 2 - 4. The atmosphere in the department is very friendly, supportive and proactive. We provide a core day once a month when CPD, mentorship, in service training and attendance at a  monthly staff meeting is encouraged.
