An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Ward Clerk on our brand new modular wards at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. Ward 38 & 39 will be equipped to care for 28 Gastroenterology & Colorectal inpatients each.

As a Ward Clerk you will be pivotal in providing a high standard of service to patients and relatives attending the department.

Applicants must have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to work under non-direct supervision, prioritising your own workload.  We need someone with a flexible approach who will be able to respond appropriately to the demands of an ever changing workload.

Main duties of the job

 

The successful applicant will need to have experience in dealing with the general public; they will have good IT skills and remain calm under pressure in this challenging role. 

You will need excellent interpersonal skills, as you will be liaising with and helping patients throughout the working day.  You will also be required to communicate with all levels of staff both face to face and over the telephone.

As a Ward Clerk you will be providing vital administrative and clerical support within our hospital wards, acting as a central communication hub for patients, families, nurses, and doctors. Key duties will include but not limited to...

  • managing patient records
  • admitting/discharging patients
  • scheduling appointments
  • working on Care Flow and New EPR  system
  • answering phone calls and emails
  • coordinating with other departments for supplies and services
  • ensuring a smooth and organized environment on the ward

You will be required to be flexible within the contracted hours. Working collaboratively with the team to ensure adequate cover is provided across both Ward 38 & Ward 39 to meet service requirements .
