We are looking for highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic individuals to join our Cellular Pathology team to work within Pathology.

As an Associate Practitioner you will work in collaboration with Biomedical Scientists and other colleagues  assisting in the provision of a diagnostic service.

Participation in the rota is compulsory, including weekend, bank holiday early and late shifts. 

The post is based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital although candidates may be required to cover absences across sites including The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital.

Main duties of the job

    You will mainly be involved in the day to day running of the slide scanners and ensuring the quality and efficiency of the scanning is maintained.
         You will be responsible for the daily maintenance of the scanners and   ensuring that the outputs are of high quality
     You will also work in all areas of the Histology Laboratory and be   involved in provision of the technical service.
         You will be checking that the correct sample type has been received,    correct sample labelling and suitability for diagnostic investigations,  in accordance with Pathology laboratory policies and standard  operating procedures. 
    You will be inputting data on the laboratory computer system and trouble shooting issues that may arise. Perform an increasing range of laboratory tests, many of which are of a non-routine nature, requiring experience, theoretical and technical knowledge. 
    You will also be expected to participate in the provision of a 6/7 day working service as part of an average 37.5 hour working week - including weekends and Bank/Public holidays.

The two hospitals, The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt are 30 minutes apart.
