International Recruitment

We welcome applications from international candidates.

Our workforce is made up of people from many different countries all over the world. We know that our colleagues bring diverse skills, experience and ideas to our Trust.

Over the past few years, we have recruited many overseas candidates into roles such as Nursing and Allied Health Professions. We understand the process and the commitment to relocate to a new country, and we will do our best to help you.

This page contains some guidance on applying for a job with us if you are currently living outside of the UK.

Guidance on how to apply

All applications should be submitted online via Trac (whether you find the vacancies on our website, NHS Jobs or elswhere, all will link back to Trac to apply). You should be careful to tailor the supporting information for the role that you are applying for, rather than submitting a generic NHS application.

We encourage all applicants to write their supporting statements in their own words. Recently, we have seen an increase in statements generated entirely by AI tools. This makes it difficult for our hiring managers to understand your genuine skills, experiences, and what makes you suitable for the role.

Your application is an important opportunity for us to get to know you as an individual. By sharing your personal experiences and examples, you help us understand why you are a strong match for the role. Over‑reliance on AI can remove your unique voice and may result in statements that feel inaccurate or overstated.

If you are successfully shortlisted, an online interview will be accommodated where possible, unless a practical assessment is part of the selection process.

Requirements

If you're applying for a registered health professional role, you will need to have your UK registration already in place (ie. NMC, HCPC etc). If you require sponsorship to be able to work in the UK, you need to check that the role you're applying for meets the requirements set by the Home Office in terms of salary and skill level.

What we offer

If offered a role with us, we will provide:

  • Certificate of Sponsorship (where the role is eligible)*
  • Guidance document on relocating (this includes information about housing and estate agents to contact)
  • Full induction and training as part of your role
  • Access to ongoing support and development
  • Access to Health and Wellbeing offer
  • Access to our Staff Networks

What you'll need to do

  • Ensure you have the relevant funds available when you apply for your visa (we are unable to certify maintenance on the Certificate of Sponsorship)
  • Apply for your visa within the timeframe and in accordance with your agreed start date with us
  • Provide the Right to Work Share Code as soon as you receive it
  • Arrange your own flights and accommodation

Please note that while the Trust will pay for the Certificate of Sponsorship, the cost of the visa and any costs associated with your relocation are to be covered by yourself, unless otherwise agreed.

*Sponsorship Enquiries

We cannot provide a list of roles that are eligible for sponsorship. Please refer to the Home Office guidance to understand the types of roles that would be eligible.

Visa Enquiries

We are unable to provide advice on individual visa applications. Each person's circumstances are unique, and immigration requirements can vary depending on personal, professional, and legal factors.

We will always do our best to offer general guidance and direct you to reliable information online, including official resources on how to apply for visas and the steps involved in the process. For detailed or personalised advice, we recommend seeking support from a qualified immigration advisor.
