We are inviting existing Assistant Practitioners (Diagnostic Radiography) already employed in the Radiology and Imaging Centre at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) to apply for this exciting developmental opportunity to train as a Registered Diagnostic Radiographer.
The successful applicant must meet the entry requirements for Diagnostic Radiography bridging and top up course at University of Cumbria. This is an 18-month course funded by the Apprenticeship Levy Scheme. The candidate must be a level 5 Assistant Practitioner qualified working within Radiology.
During training, the post holder will receive clinical training in the Radiology Department at The Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) including rotation to the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at Stafford Park, Telford. Study days and attendance of academic training at the University of Cumbria will be included as part of the rotation.
On successful completion of training and HCPC registration, the applicant will commence a substantive Band 5 post as a Diagnostic Radiographer at The Princess Royal Hospital ( inc CDC).
Main duties of the job
- The successful applicant would be expected to participate in a busy general rotation including cross sectional imaging.
- To undertake X-ray examinations as an operator in accordance with IR(ME)R 2017, under indirect supervision of a more senior member of staff.
- To ensure justification of medical exposures using the Department’s IR(ME)R Authorisation Protocols to ensure a safe effective x-ray service to all patients.
- To produce a good quality diagnostic image whilst keeping the radiation dose as low as is reasonably practicable.
- To assess and treat a workload of patients whilst maintaining a high standard of care to all patients and staff.
- To comply with Trust, Departmental, Health and Safety and Data protection policies.
- To maintain at all times patients’ privacy and confidentiality.
