An excellent development opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic nurse to join the Stroke Team as a Band 6 Stroke Nurse on a fixed-term secondment to cover maternity leave.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to build stroke knowledge, gain hands-on experience in acute stroke assessment, and develop advanced clinical and leadership skills within a dynamic, improvement-focused service.
Working within a collaborative team environment, the post holder will support the assessment and management of patients with suspected and confirmed stroke, contributing to high-quality care and ongoing pathway development.
Main duties of the job
Join our dedicated stroke team to:
- Deliver rapid assessment and management of patients with suspected or confirmed stroke.
- Request and review imaging to support timely clinical decision-making.
- Coordinate care and support seamless patient flow across the stroke pathway.
- Provide expert advice and support to patients, families, and colleagues.
- Contribute to audit, service development, and staff training.
- Uphold high standards of clinical care and record keeping.

Hospital Transformation Programme (HTP)
Our Service will relocate to The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in 2028 as part of HTP. This move will bring specialist services together in a modern, purpose-built facility to improve patient care and team experience.
We are actively recruiting, and successful candidates will be expected to move with the Service in early 2028. The relocation will follow a formal management of change process, including full consultation and support for staff.
