This is a great opportunity for newly qualified and experienced Nurses to join our team and be part of something amazing. We have both permanent and Fixed term/ Secondment (maternity leave cover), contracts available. We pride ourselves on the support we give our new staff and believe that our ward creates the perfect learning environment. We are looking for suitably qualified, dynamic, inspired and enthusiastic Nurses who have a passion to care and are always looking to make it better.
Working closely with our Emergency Department we look after acutely ill children. We have an 8 bedded Children's Assessments Unit within which our staff are able to develop skills in triage and PGD. On our ward we provide advanced care to children requiring interventions such as tracheostomy care, CPAP or high flow oxygen. We are commissioned to provide care for children with oncology needs in our dedicated, 3 bedded, purpose built area.
We also have an experienced team of specialist nurses in Gastroenterology, Respiratory, Epilepsy and Oncology who support our patients and learning needs of our team. At The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital we have a Children's Out Patient facility along with a Medical day unit.

Working for your organisation
Our Poppy’s Promise Commitment
We believe that compassionate care sits at the heart of everything we do. Every member of our team — clinical or non-clinical — plays a vital role in ensuring that patients, families, and colleagues are treated with dignity, empathy, and respect at all times.
We expect all staff to demonstrate compassion not only through their words, but through their actions: by listening attentively, communicating clearly and kindly, and recognising individual needs, feelings, and circumstances of those in our care.
Effective communication is central to safe and high-quality healthcare. We value colleagues who take the time to understand others, explain information in a meaningful way, and respond to concerns with patience and understanding.
By joining our team, you are committing to uphold these values — ensuring that every patient feels heard, respected, and valued, and that compassion is embedded in every interaction, every day.
