We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen for a part-time motivated Staff Nurse to work within the Urgent Eye Clinic, Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. There will

The permanent post offered is for 32.00 hours per week, working for four variable days Monday– Friday.  Rotational weekends will be necessary. There will be a requirement to work approximately 1 in 8 weekends.

Saturday hours are 08.00-13.00 and Sunday hours 09.00-13.00. A day off in lieu would be given the following week.

The service does also open most Bank Holidays and there would be a requirement for the successful applicant to cover Bank Holidays where needed. 

Main duties of the job

You will be primarily based within the Urgent eye Clinic at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The role will include triaging telephone calls to a high standard and making appointments as necessary in line with local protocol. The calls can be received from a variety of sources; self referral, opticians, GP's and A&E.

You will also triage the patients face to face prior to them seeing a doctor or allied health professional working within the urgent eye clinic.

In addition to working within the Urgent Eye Clinic, there will also be the opportunity to rotate into Ophthalmology Outpatients in Royal Shrewsbury Hospital that deals with several ophthalmic sub-specialities, making this a diverse, exciting opportunity for the right applicant.

Experience within a ophthalmic setting would be extremely desirable, but training would be given for the right applicant who has the desire to make a difference and endeavour to maintain a high standard of care for our patients.

Ongoing support will be offered and there will be a training package in place.
