An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 or newly qualified Band 5 to be part of a newly established team working on a new and innovative ward. Ward 35 is a brand new purpose built Therapy Led Ward at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital opening in January 2020. The team will comprise of Nursing staff, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Band 3 Higher Clinical Support Workers and HCA’s, Ward Clerk and House keepers. The structure offers development and support for the Band 5’s in the form of Therapist management in addition to the professional management that they will receive from a Band 6.
The culture and ethos of this new ward area is that of a short period of enablement, to support more patients returning to their homes with the correct level of support. The ward’s MDT will work together to enable patients to be independent in their day to day activities, as they need to return to their usual place of residence, with supporting activities of daily living, exercise programmes, social interaction and involvement. There will be a discharge lounge attached to the ward area which will operate during the day.
