We have an exciting opportunity become available for a Sister/Charge Nurse to join our team on Shrewsbury Elective Surgery Hub. 

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills within the surgical area where we provide pre and post operative nursing care to our patients. 

The dedicated and friendly staff work flexibly to cover all specialities gaining a vast array of knowledge, skills and experience.

The successful candidate requires experience on the Shrewsbury Elective Surgery Hub or within a day surgery setting, excellent organisational and communication skills, working with a wide range of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest patient quality care and experience. 

Main duties of the job

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, individual to join a busy team of dynamic dedicated day surgery nurses. The Elective Hub provides pre and post operative care for day case and inpatients undergoing both general and local anaesthetic procedures.

This is a busy fast paced environment so you will be flexible in your approach to the role and respond appropriately to the demands of an ever-changing workload. Surgical experience in an acute setting or in day surgery would be an advantage.

It is essential that the candidate is able to work using their own initiative, and to be able to work well as part of a team. You will be required to demonstrate excellent communication skills as the role requires communicating effectively with members of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality, evidence-led care to patients. The successful candidate must be able to work under pressure, be flexible in your approach and have management experience. You will also take responsibility for the development of a team of employees under the supervision of the Ward Manager

A flexible approach regarding the working hours is essential as the days/hours you will be required to work during the week can vary.
