An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic experienced and motivated Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to support the Band 7 and team of nursing staff  and HCA's within the Discharge Lounge at The Princess Royal Hospital and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.  

You will be an experienced RGN and be able to lead and assess the work of the nursing team, building upon your own clinical and managerial experience.

You will be required to coordinate the discharge lounge with your team, making sure the transfer of patients from the wards to the discharge lounge are in a timely manor, which  assists in patient flow of the hospital while under pressure.

You must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will have a proactive management style, anticipating and dealing with issues constructively within the multidisciplinary team settings.  You must be flexible in your approach to the role and respond appropriately to the demands of an ever changing workload. 

You will be instrumental in ensuring  the continuous improvement of the Discharge Lounge,  maintaining excellent standards of care and ensuring  our patients are treated with the utmost respect and dignity.

This role involves caring for patients and also supporting the band 7 and junior staff members

You will be in charge of the ward making sure the discharge lounge is running safely, whilst maintaining safe discharges for our patients. 

 

 

Main duties of the job

 

The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting the band 7 and the team.  Effectively monitoring and maintaining excellent standards of care that are reflected by patient experience. 

Sound clinical knowledge and experience in  the safe discharge of patients  is essential.

The successful candidate must have a proven ability in supervising, managing and controlling the activities of a department in an efficient and effective manner.  This will involve , ensuring adequate staffing levels are maintained and resources used appropriately.

Showing commitment and direction to the team as a whole you will actively participate in the teaching, training and supervision of all grades of staff.  You will be required to be receptive to change, be dynamic and demonstrate active assistance and support to your more senior colleagues in the ongoing development of the department.
