We are looking for a committed, passionate, hard working band 7 nurse, to lead the renal access team as a leader and clinician. A previous sound knowledge and experience of renal patients and their access for renal replacement therapy is vital.
Good polite, clear, concise communication skills are important with surgeons, nephrologists, radiologists, CKD team, PD nurses, secretaries and ward clerks, with a vision of maintaining and expanding the service. Supporting dialysis staff over 3 different sites giving education and advice. Leading clinics across sites, using the son-o-site machines with good understanding. Plan line insertion and removal. Attend MDT's and maintain a seamless pathway promoting the care and life of every renal patients access.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will function as a highly specialised clinical practitioner within the specialty, ensuring a seamless patient pathway for access procedures amongst pre dialysis patients and patients with established renal disease across The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH).
They will be responsible for the management and delivery of a high quality service to ensure timely creation and maintenance of vascular access for patients with established renal failure, implementing and evaluating plans of care for a group of patients in accordance with agreed policies and professional guidelines. The post holder will monitor and audit all access activities and ensure that cost effective clinical practice is maintained.
