A rare and exciting opportunity has become available for a forward thinking registered Dental Nurse to join The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital to work alongside and support, Orthodontic consultant, Maxillofacial consultants, DCT's, Orthodontic therapists and Hygienists.
The successful applicant must possess a certificate in dental nursing and registered with the GDC, along with experience of working in a dental setting.
This is a part time role of 34.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
- To support an environment that promotes excellence in nursing practice and development of high levels of clinical skills.
- Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
- Participate in team building/communication, to develop and consolidate a cohesive and supportive team.
- To communicate effectively and work in partnership with patients, their relative/carers, nurse colleagues and members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure care is delivered in an accurate and efficient manner.
- Receives sensitive information concerning patient's medical condition. Deal with nervous/ anxious patients.
- Identify, discuss and report any relevant nursing/patient needs with team/ ward staff, patients.
- Work in partnership with the patient and family and other health care professionals in care delivery.
- Provide support and advice to patients and relatives when faced with distressing situations.
- Accept responsibility; be aware and able to locate all policies relating to good working practice within the clinical area and able to adhere to both by self and colleagues.
- To have good communication skills both verbally, formal documentation and electronic (I.T.) sources with all members of the multidisciplinary team, patients and families.
- Maintain accurate and legible records of patient care in line with Trust policies.
- Adhere to Trust policies pertaining to patient confidentiality/ the Data Protection Act/ Caldicott Recommendations.
