We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Registered Children’s Nurse to join our friendly and supportive Children’s Outpatients Team for 12 months to cover maternity leave.
You will be based at Children's Outpatients RSH but would be expected to also cover outpatients at PRH as required.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop your paediatric nursing skills within a busy outpatient environment, providing high-quality, child-centred care to children, young people and their families.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 5 Paediatric Nurse, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care across a range of outpatient services.
Your role will include:
Providing high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to children and young people.
Supporting children and families throughout their outpatient journey.
Undertaking clinical assessments and monitoring patients.
Assisting with investigations, procedures and treatments.
Recognising and escalating deterioration or safeguarding concerns.
Providing health education, advice and support to children, young people and their families.
Working closely with medical, nursing and wider multidisciplinary teams.
Maintaining accurate and timely documentation.
Supporting the development of students, learners and colleagues.
Contributing to service development, quality improvement and a positive patient experience.

Hospital Transformation Programme (HTP)
Our Service will relocate to The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in 2028 as part of HTP. This move will bring specialist services together in a modern, purpose-built facility to improve patient care and team experience.
We are actively recruiting, and successful candidates will be expected to move with the Service in early 2028. The relocation will follow a formal management of change process, including full consultation and support for staff.
