This post will support the existing Band 7 Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist Team in providing safe and effective care for all haematology patients needing support, advice or review within the Oncology service.  The role will be fundamental in providing signposting and help for newly diagnosed Oncology patients, and for providing advice and support for those on treatment within the  units and ward at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust.  This is a newly funded post from the Cancer Alliance and is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to influence the delivery of Oncology care.  It is anticipated this role will work primarily with lung, upper GI and colo-rectal patients therefore any experience with these groups will be an advantage but not essential

 

Main duties of the job

 

The role will provide telephone and face to face support for newly diagnosed and on treatment Oncology patients.  The postholder will work closely with the existing Oncology Clinical Nurse Speciality Team, Oncology Navigators and Oncology Unit Nursing Teams, to ensure seamless support for our patients.
