Named Midwife for Safeguarding and Domestic Abuse Band 8a. 18.75 hours per week negotiable with job share. Permanent position from 01 October 2018.  Applicants must be a registered Midwife.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust are passionate in effectively supporting members of the organisation to ensure that safeguarding is everybody’s business. 

We are looking for a Midwife with experience of safeguarding and supporting pregnant women and their families with complex social issues who would be willing to act up into this role. You will be able to demonstrate innovative team working with excellent communication skills within the multi-agency arena, together with fostering a supportive environment for practitioners working with pregnant women and their families across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
The post requires current NMC registration, and the successful candidate will be educated to or working towards Masters Level, hold an accredited teaching or training qualification, and have a minimum of two years’ experience of working with a complex caseload.

An important element of the role is to take the lead in the planning, delivery and evaluation of safeguarding training, as well as attending safeguarding meetings representing Maternity services to include Local Safeguarding Children Board sub groups.

You will also be required to provide safeguarding supervision for Midwives as well as individual supervision to staff involved in complex cases / critical incidents.
The successful applicant will provide specialist support within the Trust in line with local and national guidelines and statute.
