ARE YOU AN EXISTING EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT BAND 7 OR DO YOU ASPIRE TO BE ONE? IF SO, WE HAVE A NUMBER OF POSITIONS AVAILABLE AND WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO CONSIDER JOINING OUR EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT TEAM HERE AT THE SHREWSBURY AND TELFORD HOSPITALS!
This is a chance for you to make a real difference to patient care whilst developing your knowledge and skills of working in an Emergency Department further.
The workforce model for the department which is split across two sites has been reviewed and new posts have been created. The Trust wishes to invest in the Senior Nursing ED Team to ensure that safe, kind and prompt care is delivered to patients whilst investing in the development of staff.
Members of the Senior Nursing Team will require strong management and leadership qualities, whilst overseeing the team to deliver the highest possible patient care. It will support the Department Matron to drive forward evidence based practice and take responsibility for the supervision of staff and the policies and practices that operate within their clinical area.
The department is split over 2 sites of which all nursing staff will rotate. Both departments see on average between 180-190 patients per day, one site is a Major Trauma Unit whilst the other specialises in Paediatrics and Stroke services.
There has been and continues to be a huge investment in Nursing from the Executive Team and the new workforce plan increases the number of senior nurses in the department substantially. This will allow the post holder to lead and develop a team of nurses assigned to them whilst impacting on all the nurses in the department.
There is already a strong core of both substantive and long-term locum members in our ED team, as well as middle-grade doctors, specialist nurses, enhanced clinicians and dedicated support staff. One of the ways we are improving employee experience, staff involvement, and engagement is by recruiting according to our Trust values - we are looking for people who can provide the safest and kindest care in the NHS.
Our hospitals are based in Shropshire and just 20 minutes’ drive apart. Shropshire is a wonderful place to live. Shrewsbury, in particular, has recently been named as one of the top places to live in the country in the “Sunday Time Best Places to Live Guide”. It is a wonderful bustling place, with affordable housing, fantastic schools and great out-of-work activities for everyone.
It is also a particularly good time to join the Trust as we are currently working in collaboration with the Virginia Mason Institute in Seattle. We are one of only 5 UK trusts to receive this support from one of the safest hospitals in the world. We are 3 years into a 5 year journey - gain this valuable experience whilst you still can.
Shropshire is a beautiful county located between the West Midlands and North Wales. Whilst rural and home to the Shropshire Hills it is anything but sleepy. The county is bustling with idyllic towns including Shrewsbury, Telford, Oswestry, Bridgnorth and Ludlow, with plenty to do regardless of your interests. More information can again be found under further links.
We are ideally located between the north and the south making travelling around the UK extremely easy. As well as being only a short distance from major cities and busy transport links including Birmingham airport, our county also borders with beautiful north Wales which is abundant in outdoor activities, brilliant beaches, and thrilling scenery.
