An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk within our friendly and dynamic team in the Renal Unit at Shrewsbury.

The successful applicant will need to have experience dealing with the general public; they will have good IT skills and remain calm under pressure in this challenging role. Good telephone skills, confidence and a positive helpful manner is essential. Duties will include answering the telephone, filing, using the Care Flow system and booking transport & appointments.

The Renal unit is afast-paced environment requiring the ward clerk to meet demanding targets and must also be a pivotal member of the team.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will often be the first face patients see when arriving for their dialysis. They must be a welcoming and compassionate individual, who can work independently and as part of a team. 

Welcome new patients onto the unit.
Responsible for entering  all patients in and out of careflow for each dialysis session attended.
Responsible for booking transport & OPAs
Answer the telephone, responding to questions or requests as appropriate.
Liaising with other departments on a regular basis. 
Notify Pathology of urgent blood specimens when requested by nursing staff.
Request and collect (or deliver when requested) notes and x-rays from various departments.
Complete datix as requested by nursing staff
