This is an exciting opportunity for a caring, compassionate and motivated individual to work with our Clinical Nurse Specialist and Chemotherapy teams as a Cancer Care Navigator.

This role will help patients and clinical teams to deliver effective patient care; you will be the first point of contact for patients with queries and your role will involve supporting these patients and directing them to the most appropriate person to help. 

The successful applicant will be educated to GCSE level including Maths and English and have experience of working with cancer patients.

You will also liaise with the clinical nurse specialists, Oncology consultants, and Oncology administration and secretarial staff to be able to answer some patient queries.  it is intended that this role will support  colorectal patients and chemotherapy receiving treatment within the Oncology department, therefore the ability to show empathy and understanding is essential.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to complement the existing Oncology team. 
To help patients through diagnosis, treatment pathways and follow up.
To ensure the provision of safe, seamless, appropriate service. This helps maximise the health and quality of life of patient and carers. 
The role will involve a significant amount of patient contact on a regular basis.   
You will also undertake Holistic Needs Assessments for a specific patient group, these help identify patient needs at the start of their treatment and at regular points during treatment.

Working for our organisation

Oncology is close knit team and you will work with all members of the multi-disciplinary team in order to provide effective patient care. This role will focus on patients with one or two specific Oncology diagnoses, the area you will be working in will be decided depending on the skill set of the person appointed.
