Medical Engineering currently has a Band 5 Technologist vacancy within The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital (SaTH). The department is responsible for the management of Medical devices including commissioning, repair, maintenance and disposal for SaTH and external bodies within Shropshire and the surrounding regions. The vacancy is predominantly based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, however the post holder may be required to work at other sites as the service demands.
This is an exciting opportunity to be integral to the development and ongoing success of the department - the role is interesting and varied and the successful candidate can expect to support the Trust’s medical devices throughout their life cycle including acceptance processes, scheduled preventative maintenance, servicing, calibration, repairs, decommissioning and safe disposal of the equipment.
Medical Engineering operates an ISO:9001 and ISO:13485 quality system, therefore knowledge and experience of operating within these systems would be of benefit to the department to maintain its principles of continuous improvement.
You will be a skilled and self-motivated engineer, educated to HNC level in a suitable engineering subject with proven experience of working unsupervised on electrical/ electronic/ mechanical equipment and be able to demonstrate the desire to continue your professional development through internal and external training courses.
The post involves working with other healthcare professionals, often in clinical areas, therefore excellent communication skills will be required to interact with medical, nursing and technical staff.
Previous experience working on medical equipment in a challenging and busy environment is a big advantage.
