We are looking to appoint an empathetic, organised and resilient individual to the post of Macmillan Support Centre Assistant Manager. With support, the post-holder will be responsible for the day to day running of the Macmillan Cancer Support Centre at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.

The post holder will communicate daily with those affected by cancer, providing high quality information, signposting and referrals to other services. They will always demonstrate empathy and deal sensitively with emotional conversations to improve the difficult experience of the people they support, who may physically drop into the centre, or request support by telephone, email, or virtually.

The post holder will work under the direction of the Macmillan Support Centre Manager and alongside other professionals in the trust and in the  the community. They will be part of a network of Macmillan Professionals and will be supported by caring Macmillan volunteers. 

The post-holder will provide a source of information and a listening ear that will reduce the demand on clinical time and deliver support in a more comfortable, accessible, and informal setting to service users. The post-holder will be required to provide cover at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The role will involve periods of lone working, so they must be organised and develop themselves to work autonomously. They must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

An induction period and ongoing support will be provided.
