In line with this vision, the Estates Directorate are seeking a highly committed and experienced professional engineering manager to join our team who will play a key role in helping to shape and develop the Trust's estates asset management programme, maintenance and repair service and include you having managerial, professional and technical responsibility for the operational estates services which are delivered across all of the Trust premises.
You will lead and develop the Estates maintenance teams at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital (Telford) sites and will support the Associate Director of Estates with the management of the Trust's 'Hard FM' infrastructure and the wider Estates function, so as to provide a high quality, compliant, proactive and responsive maintenance and repair service for the Trust.
You will ensure that the healthcare environment, including all buildings, engineering systems and grounds are safe and compliant with all relevant legislation and healthcare guidance, well maintained within the agreed budget, fit for purpose, available for their intended use, and provide the best possible patient experience.
As a strong people manager and someone who continually seeks improvement, you will be passionate about the provision of high quality facilities for our patients and staff and be committed to our values with the ability to inspire, motivate and empower those around you - with a positive can do attitude. You will be able to demonstrate flexibility and initiative when dealing with a wide range of engineering/ building services and will also provide team leadership and co-ordination to achieve a high standard of productivity and workmanship, delivering the operational estates services in the most cost effective manner.
In addition with suitable training and support you will act as the lead Authorised/ Responsible Person for a number of specialised building and engineering services, such as Decontamination, Water Systems, Asbestos and Fire Management.
Applicants should possess professional knowledge acquired through a degree or equivalent plus specialist knowledge gained through post-graduate courses and have experience to a Masters equivalent level in building services/ engineering related discipline. This will be supplemented preferably by having worked previously in the NHS or a similar complex organisation, with evidence of management development and formal Health and Safety training.
