An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and highly skilled full time, 37.50 hours a week, Band 3 Support Secretary to join our dedicated Head & Neck Secretariat team at The Princess Royal Hospital on a 6 month fixed term or secondment. This is a pivotal role within a supportive team of Medical Secretaries. Providing high-level secretarial support to the Head & Neck Centre, managing complex clinical correspondence using sensitive medical terminology via audio transcription. Organising and prioritising a varied workload in a fast-paced environment. Communicating effectively with multidisciplinary teams across all levels upholding the highest standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Main duties of the job
Using Microsoft Office application, produce clinical correspondences with audio transcription. To include communication to General Practitioners and other health professionals, clinical letters, notes, and discharge summaries.
Respond to telephone calls from anxious and distressed patients, resolving problems, when possible, in a professional and competent manner.
Ensure all queries from colleagues and external organisations are dealt with quickly and effectively in the department, producing file notes as necessary.
To promote the implementation and adherence of agreed policies, procedures, and protocols. Ensure the smooth running of the office/team including the assessment of priorities and the initiation of preparatory action.
Opening and dealing with incoming correspondences as appropriate. Photocopying, general office duties and the use of PAS (Patient Administration System) when necessary.
File results, letters, and various other documentation in medical notes
