We have an exciting opportunity to join our team within the Breast Imaging Office.

You will work in an established team providing a wide range of administration duties across the department, with the opportunity to develop new skills and knowledge. The role will entail interacting with patients, the public and staff at all levels across the trust.  Therefore, you will require good communication and customer care skills, have a friendly, pleasant and helpful approach, whilst understanding the need for confidentiality in a health care environment. 

Our Trust values would need to be demonstrated through the individual's approach to working in this environment, with the appropriate attitudes and behaviour to work in a health care setting. You must be flexible to meet the demands of the service, have a can-do attitude and be a good team worker.  You will have achieved a minimum of 3, good standard GCSEs, education grades 9-4 (or equivalent) which include Maths and English. It is essential that candidates can demonstrate a capacity to show empathy, have a sensitive approach to difficult situations and understand the need for safe working practice in a hospital environment.  

You will be based at The Princess Royal Hospital but will also be required to work at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on a regular basis. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate can commute cross-site. 

Main duties of the job

  • To provide clerical support to the Breast Imaging clerical team and the wider clinical breast team.
  • As Receptionist, to greet breast screening and symptomatic patients as they arrive and accurately record their attendance on NBSS/CRIS. 
  • To deal with the full range of telephone calls into the Breast Imaging Office, including enquiries from health professionals, the general public and clients/patients.
  • To monitor the generic e-mail account and act upon any messages in a timely manner.
  • To make breast screening appointments and prepare clinic lists for women recalled for the second stage of screening.
  • To undertake printing of letters, reports, clinic schedules and client forms.
  • To dispatch screening invitation and results letters to agreed timetables.
  • To comply with the policies of the National Breast Screening Programme relating to clerical matters.
  • To attend monthly departmental staff meetings, take minutes and type them up for distribution to the team
