An exciting opportunity has arisen for an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist, with relevant post-registration experience in Cellular Pathology.
Successful applicants are required to take the lead in the main laboratory sections; routine histology, embedding and microtomy.

Main duties of the job
Assist in the provision of a diagnostic service. To understand, organise and perform competently a range of laboratory procedures, either singly or as part of a team, that equate to the training and qualifications of a
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered BMS. You will be required to attain proficiency in the relevant areas of cellular pathology essential to support the provision diagnostic services.

Our two Hospitals, The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford are just a 30 minute drive apart. Both hospitals provide a wide range of acute hospital services including accident & emergency, outpatients, diagnostics, inpatient medical care and critical care. The Shrewsbury cellular pathology department also supports Cellular pathology at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt orthopaedic hospital in Oswestry.
To meet increasing demands on the service, our Cellular Pathology department is undergoing a review of workforce as we move towards a 7 day service. Weekend working, on a rotational basis (at most 1 in 4), is a requirement of the role.
