Job overview

The Pharmacy Department at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic motivated individual to support dispensing functions within the department, primarily in the Aseptic / Outsourced area.

The individual will be required to dispense and prepare drugs for outpatients, inpatients and patients receiving injectable medicines such as chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, total parenteral nutrition and radio diagnostics.

Main duties of the job

  • To dispense and prepare drugs for all patients as required of the service and assist the pharmacy workflow by prioritising own workload and under the instruction of those responsible for that area.
  • To check drugs issued by Pharmacy Staff, ensuring, if necessary, the correction of the stock issues or computer records.
  • Liaise closely with pharmacy and nursing staff over medicine supply and arrange the re-cycling or safe disposal of returned medicines in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Work within Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) ensuring compliance with relevant standards (Good x Practice, GMP, GDP)
