An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Biomedical Scientist to take a pivotal role in leading the implementation and optimisation of the Histopathology Automation Programme as part of the N8 collaboration.
 
This position will be instrumental in driving service transformation, improving efficiency, and ensuring compliance with national standards. In addition to project leadership responsibilities, the role includes undertaking dissection to a defined level of competency for specific tissue types and providing direct supervision of the dissection area and associated processes.

Main duties of the job

Lead the delivery and optimisation of histopathology automation systems. Ensure compliance with NHSE standards and local governance requirements. Drive efficiency improvements and support service modernisation. Perform dissection of specified tissue types to agreed competency levels. Supervise and manage processes within the dissection area. Provide training and mentorship to junior staff. Collaborate with stakeholders across the N8 network to share best practice.

Assist the Lead BMS and other senior grade staff in the management of the department’s sections. To manage and deploy staff within a section(s) of work assigned to you.  You will lead a specialist section of the department and will ensure that all aspects of the technical performance of that area are of the highest standard.  You will undertake equipment evaluation and activities which underpin the appropriate selection of methodologies and/or adaptation of procedures used in the department.  You will drive service improvements and innovation within your specialist section of the department.

This post is based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, although the postholder may be required to work across sites.
