Job overview

We are seeking a Senior Band 7 Biomedical Scientist to work with and support the Biochemistry  section at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.

This is a 6 month secondment opportunity for internal applicants only.

Applicants should hold both a BSc and MSc in Biomedical Sciences (or related subject) and ideally have completed an IBMS specialist portfolio in Clinical Biochemistry. 

The successful candidate may be expected to work across all sites, as the service requires.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Specialist BMS, you are able to perform and understand the interpretation of a wide range of specialist laboratory tests, which are undertaken in the various sections of the Department.  Routinely, you undertake the day-to-day management and supervision of a section(s) of work, or group of staff in the department.  However, you will perform the work within a section in the absence of a Specialist BMS normally assigned to that section.

The Biochemistry Department has an annual workload of 7.1 million reported tests and has three laboratory sites. It has recently re-equipped with Roche Cobas automated systems.
