The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) is the main provider of acute hospital care for more than 500,000 people from Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. Pathology provides pathology services to the Trust and Shropshire County CCG, Telford and Wrekin CCG, Powys Teaching Health Board, Powys Healthcare Trust, and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, amongst others.

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our Microbiology team. You must possess  relevant qualifications to GCSE level. The Microbiology Department is actively involved in COVID-19 testing.

Participation in the weekend, bank holiday, early and late shifts is compulsory.

The successful candidate should demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.

This post is based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

The Trust

Our two Hospitals, The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford are just a 20 minute drive apart.

This is a special time to join the Trust as we have successfully secured more than £312m of investment from the Government for the reconfiguration of our two hospitals with a decision due imminently.  NHS Future Fit proposes that one hospital provides emergency care services (including women and children’s inpatient services) and the other hospital provides planned care services.  Both hospitals would have an Urgent Care Centre that is open 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

The proposed model of hospital care has been designed by members of the public and over 300 clinicians, GPs and social care professionals.  Whichever option is approved, NHS Future Fit’s proposed model will ensure a wide range of hospital services will still be available at both hospital sites and, importantly, stay within the county.

The Area

We are ideally located between the north and the south, making travelling around the UK extremely easy.  As well as being only a short distance from major cities and busy transport links including Birmingham airport, our county also borders with beautiful north Wales which is abundant in outdoor activities, brilliant beaches, and thrilling scenery.

Please note, for vacancies that receive a high number of applications, we reserve the right to close the post before the stated closing date, so please apply as soon as possible.
