The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) is the main provider of acute hospital care for more than 500,000 people from Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales. Pathology provides pathology services to; The Trust and Shropshire County CCG, Telford and Wrekin CCG, Powys Teaching Health Board, Powys Healthcare Trust, and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, amongst others.

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic individual who can undertake a range of advanced scientific activities and use highly specialist scientific knowledge and experience to take a role in support of the Laboratory Information Management System and requesting and reporting systems and to promote quality within the Cellular Pathology and Microbiology laboratory, using modern methods of quality management, audit and process control in support of the departmental quality leads.

The successful applicant will be a suitably qualified and experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with a minimum of five years post registration experience in Biomedical Science. You must possess a relevant professional qualification to degree level or equivalent and hold an MSc, FIBMS or equivalent in Biomedical Science.

Core duties will consist of supporting Cellular Pathology/Microbiology in IT and quality issues; supporting all aspects of the laboratory information management system (currently Telepath) in response to changing needs of the service; co-ordinating the collection of timely and accurate data from the laboratory information system to support the needs of the department; acting as a Quality Officer for Cellular Pathology/Microbiology and assisting in achieving and maintaining ISO Standard 15189:2012. 

The successful candidate should also demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. All duties will be performed to a professional standard as directed by the Health and Care Professions Council and Trust/departmental policies and procedures.
