We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our Biochemistry team. You must possess a relevant qualification and previous clinical laboratory experience is essential.
Participation in out of hours working is compulsory, including weekend, bank holiday and late shifts.
The is post based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital although candidates may be required to cover absences across sites.
Candidates should hold either the NVQ Level 3 in Clinical Laboratory Support, or IBMS certificate of achievement Part II, or an equivalent qualification in a relevant science based subject.
Main duties of the job
As an Associate Practitioner you will work in collaboration with Biomedical Scientists and other colleagues assisting in the provision of a diagnostic service. Duties include preparation, operation, monitoring and maintenance of complex laboratory equipment, and will include tasks of a practical nature for which a high level of manual dexterity and careful attention to detail is needed. You will also be expected to participate in the provision of an out of hours service as part of an average 37.5 hour working week - including evenings, nights, weekends and Bank/Public holidays.
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) is the main provider of acute hospital care for more than 500,000 people from Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. Pathology provides pathology services to the Trust and Shropshire County CCG, Telford and Wrekin CCG, Powys Teaching Health Board, Powys Healthcare Trust, and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, amongst others.
The two hospitals, The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford are just a 30 minute drive apart.
