We are looking for an additional Radiologist to join us. You must be motivated and committed to working in a multidisciplinary team including Consultant Radiologists, Consultant Surgeons, Consultant Pathologist, Consultant Oncologists, specialist nurses and Allied Health Care Professionals. You must be someone who wants to provide the best possible clinical care across the spectrum of Breast disease for our service users; we take great pride in the high quality service we offer our patients. The role will be primarily in Breast care but expertise outside of Breast Imaging will be supported as there is a wide spectrum of opportunities across other sub-specialities. You will be expected to actively participate in maintaining and developing the Breast Radiology service and to complement existing expertise.
The post is advertised for 10 programmed activities but flexible working arrangements are available on discussion with the department. Currently there is no on call commitment for this post.
Candidates for this role must have GMC registration and recent experience within the NHS.
The department provides screening for the county of Shropshire and symptomatic services for Shropshire and nearby area including much of mid Wales. The Breast screening programme in Shropshire performs extremely well when benchmarked against other UK services and we consistently have one of the highest attendance and cancer detection rate.
The department is fully digital. Breast services can also offer vacuum assisted biopsies and we are looking to add Tomosynthesis in the near future. The Surgical service provides dedicated Breast specialist surgeons including 2 purely breast oncoplastic surgeons. Breast imaging services are delivered in collaboration with an established four tier system of Radiographers and assistant practitioners, underpinned by an excellent clerical. We embrace new ways of working to meet the challenges currently faced by the health service.
The main Radiology Department comprises of a supportive, forward thinking team of 21 existing Consultants (17 WTE) providing Radiology services to Shropshire and the surrounding areas. We are looking forward to exciting changes with increasing investment with two new CT scanners installed in 2015, three new ultrasound machines in 2016, three new MRI scanners; this is in response to the Future Fit decision concerning the Counties care provision. We provide nuclear imaging and PET service is provided through the national programme but scans are mostly reported by one Radiologist.
We have recently upgraded to a new PACS (Agfa Enterprise imaging).
Our Hospitals are located in Shrewsbury and Telford and are brimming with exemplary teams of hardworking individuals.
It is a particularly exciting time to join the Trust as we have recently started working collaboratively with the Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle. We are one of only 5 UK hospitals to receive this support, from what is regarded as the safest hospital in the world. This collaboration means employees can benefit from the KPO (Kaizen Promotion Office) and value Stream work, gaining valuable help and guidance regardless of your level of expertise. It poses a unique opportunity to make a difference and we hope you will want to be a part of our journey. More about this can be found under further links.
Shropshire is a beautiful county located between the West Midlands and North Wales. Whilst rural and home to the Shropshire Hills it is anything but sleepy. The county is bustling with idyllic towns including Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Bridgnorth and Ludlow, with plenty to do regardless of your interests. More information can again be found under further links.
We are ideally located between the north and the south making travelling around the UK extremely easy. As well as being only a short distance from major cities and busy transport links including Birmingham airport, our county also borders with beautiful north Wales which is abundant in outdoor activities, brilliant beaches, and thrilling scenery.
We want you to find out more about the department and our hospitals, and we invite you to contact us with any questions you may have on 01743 261683, or even arrange a visit. Please also take the time to read any supporting documentation to really get to know us.
