Located at the Princess Royal Hospital site in Telford, the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust’s purpose built Stroke Unit is the 2nd  largest in the West Midlands and 15th largest in the UK. Supported by a well established and highly experienced team of specialist clinicians, nurses and therapists, its HASU, ASU and SRU provide both inpatient and outpatient services seven days a week. The Stroke Unit is also linked to one of the best Neuroscience centres in the UK.

As demand of the Trust’s Stroke Service continues to grow so too have its plans to develop and expand its service and its workforce.  As such the Trust is now seeking interest from aspiring physicians looking to further their career ambitions in one of England’s most attractive shires.

The new posts are full-time (or part time) appointments designed to develop the stroke service in line with the West Midlands strategic framework and national directives for 7-day working. The Stroke Consultant team work in close collaboration with colleagues from Elderly Care Medicine, who provide a full range of services including acute elderly care, rehabilitation, Orthogeriatrics and a movement disorder service, and receive support from the Trust’s expansive Cardiology and Radiology services.

With the Trust linked to the Keele Medical School, its Stroke service also offers individuals opportunities to teach in a friendly supportive environment and so further their interests in medical education, governance or research.

Both the Princess Royal Hospital and its sister site, the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital  Shrewsbury, are located in idyllic Shropshire which boasts historic market towns and beautiful countryside yet has easy access to motorways and good train links to Birmingham International and London. The county also affords a high quality of life with a broad range of country pursuits, excellent free grammar schools, affordable housing and low traffic levels on offer.
