We have exciting full and part time opportunities for motivated and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistants to join the the Outpatients Department at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

We are looking to recruit friendly Healthcare Assistants who have excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a busy team. The post holders will provide essential clinical and administrative support to the clinical team within our Outpatients Department, helping to provide a high level of care to patients.  You will manage a group of patients on their journey through the consultations, any relevant diagnostics and will give information as and when deemed necessary.

The post holders must be able to effectively manage their own workload when caring for a group of patients under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Main duties of the job

 

  • Provide support to patients to maintain their hygiene needs.
  • Provide support to patients to maintain their elimination needs.
  • Assist in the delivery of pressure area care.
  • Assist in the maintenance of patients nutritional and hydration needs.
  • Accurately undertake and record patient observations (at a frequency determined by the registered nurses), reporting any abnormalities immediately to a registered nurse.
  • To support patients during their outpatient appointment.
  • Escort patients to and from other wards and departments under the direct instruction of the registered nurses.
  • To move patients safely using techniques taught by the Manual Handling Team, including the safe use of mechanical and non-mechanical handling aids.
  • Answer the telephone courteously, relay messages accurately and promptly.

You will be supported as a new member of staff in the department to work within the different clinics and to complete mandatory and departmental training.
