We offer an exciting opportunity for an individual experienced in providing patient care to train as an Assistant Practitioners (Diagnostic Radiography) in  our Radiology Department at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

Training in performing imaging examinations will be provided both in the clinical setting (30 hours per week) and by Birmingham City University (7.5 hours per week) and paid at Band 4 under Annex 21 of Agenda for Change.

The entry criteria for applicants is a Level 2 Maths and English qualification and a Level 3 qualification (in any subject) is also desirable.

Access to this opportunity can only be supported if the successful candidates are successful in applying to the University to attend this course.

The apprentices will be work based learners and will be allocated a Clinical Learning Facilitator (CLF) within their clinical setting. 

On completion of training, the successful candidates will move into a substantive post as a qualified Assistant Practitioner at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.

The successful applicants will be closely supported by our Radiology team.

The post holders will be an integral part of our team, working closely with the Radiographers in performing high quality imaging.  They will specialise in general radiography.

Most of our services are provided at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford and The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in Shrewsbury.
