We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team. 

The post is 18.75hours or 0.5WTE. We have flexibility how these hours are worked between Monday to Friday.

Our service provides therapy to stroke patients in the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin area. Our base office is in Shrewsbury.

Main duties of the job

Our Stroke Early Supported Discharge team is a friendly and dynamic group of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists and Assistant Practitioners, with funding for a Dietitian.
We deliver high quality therapy to patients in their own home in the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin areas. As such, this role offers a great opportunity to work with a broad range of professions to drive forward excellent integrated stroke care for the patient's we serve.

The successful candidate must have experience of working with adults with complex acquired disorders of communication and swallowing.

We are looking for an individual who has an excellent understanding of evidenced based-practice within the speciality of stroke rehabilitation. The ability to influence and implement best-practice, to ensure we are continuously improving the quality of services provided to patients across the pathways.  

The post holder will be responsible for the clinical supervision and mentorship of Assistant Practitioners within  ESD team and SLT students. You will be required to deliver training within our therapy structure.

We are fortunate to offer our patients a 7 day stroke therapy service, at present from a SLT perspective we offer a 6 day service. The successful candidate would be expected to participate in this work pattern.

The post holder must be able to drive.
