The Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust look forward to welcoming Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to join our therapy bank where we frequently have shifts available in a wide variety of clinical areas across inpatients, at both The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, across 7 days a week.

Prior experience in an acute hospital setting is required for these Band 6 Specialist roles, and please include in your application any specialist areas of interest so that we can tailor your interview and offer to roles that are best suited to your skills. 

Main duties of the job

  • To assess, diagnose/interpret and manage own specialist caseload of complex patients as an autonomous practitioner in accordance with Professional Code of Conduct and HCPC Regulations.
  • To have developed, through experience and postgraduate training, the specialist knowledge and clinical skills required for the post. 
  • The post holder will work in close co-operation with colleagues within all Care Groups to deliver a cohesive service that is user led ensuring a consistently high standard of patient care, optimal patient flow and safe 
  • timely discharge.
  • To work closely with team leads and senior therapists to ensure a robust structure of training, supervision and appraisal is delivered to all members within the team.
  • To work closely with team leads and senior therapists to ensure the delivery of an efficient operational service.
  • To act as a source of Specialist advice and support within the Therapy Centre and across the Trust and the wider health economy.

Our inpatient services operate across both Shrewsbury and Telford hospital sites, 7 days a week and cover specialities such as frailty at the front door (A&E and AMU), oncology, paediatrics and general medicine and surgery.
