Due to a service review we are in a position to expand our excellent and dynamic diabetes dietetic team. The team provides dietetic support for children and young people across Shropshire and Powys. This includes education and training for children, young people and their families from diagnosis to transition into adult services. We are apart of a wider MDT working closely with our colleagues in the Women's and Children's Centre in Telford and with our partners in Shropshire Community Trust.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, autonomous and highly motivated Band 5 looking to progress or take on extra duties or a competent Band 6 dietitian to support our B7 clinical lead diabetes dietitian. The role is for 18.75 and will be based at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. You will be required to work in a variety of settings within our 2 hospitals and in the wider Shropshire community therefore flexibility and adaptability are essential. You will be working within nationally and locally agreed protocols and guidelines to provide up to date evidence based dietetic support for Type 1, Type 2 and other forms of diabetes in a mixture of social settings within the community as well as outpatients and our Children's ward at Princess Royal Hospital.
Main duties of the job
We are small paediatric team based in the Therapy Services in Princess Royal Hospital. We provide a specialist paediatric diabetes service to the community of Shropshire. We are apart of a wider diabetes MDT consisting of diabetes community nurses, Consultants, and psychologists we have close links to school nurses, GPs and social workers.
Your main role is to support parents, children and young people (CYP) with training and education from diagnosis to transition into adult services. You will be required to work in a variety of settings, covering wards, family homes and other social settings such as education and health. In addition you will have the opportunity to conduct audits and support the B7 in developing and delivering the operational objectives for the paediatric diabetes team.
Dietitians working with children with diabetes should be a competent paediatric dietitian and be able to demonstrate knowledge and competencies in: weighing, measuring and assessing growth, normal infant and childhood nutrition, assessment of food intake and growth, management of faltering growth and management of behavioural eating difficulties.
Additional training will be delivered to support you. We are committed to tailoring training to each individuals need and offer opportunities for continuing professional development. We provide regular management and clinical supervision across the whole of therapies.

We are a friendly, dynamic dietetic team consisting of dietitians and assistant practitioners. We work collectively and are integrated within the community providing support to our partners in the community Shropshire.
