Job overview

We have an opportunity for a band 7 Physiotherapist to join our Surgery, Oncology and Critical Care Team at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

The post holder will be responsible for delivery of a clinical physiotherapy service to the general surgical wards, gastroenterology, Oncology inpatients and critical care. They will also have responsibility for clinical leadership and support of therapy staff within the team including OTs, PTs, APs and TSWs.

The postholder will have expert clinical knowledge of surgical patients including colorectal and vascular, and will support more  junior staff on the gastroenterological ward.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with the existing clinical lead physiotherapist and occupational therapist, to lead on teaching, advice, support, supervision and appraisal. They will also work closely with the inpatient therapy team manager to support and develop the strong and flourishing inpatient therapy team which consists of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, apprentice therapists and therapy assistants ranging from B2 to 4.

The successful candidate will have experience in acute surgical care and working within critical care  though B7 experience in these areas is not essential. 
The post is 18.75  hours.
The post holder will be a member of the out of hours on call and weekend rotas which covers all inpatient areas at RSH
