The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust is advertising an exciting opportunity within the Ophthalmology service for a permanent Speciality Doctor in Ophthalmology. The successful applicant will provide a general ophthalmology service and will be based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) but will also be required to work cross-site at Princess Royal Hospital (PRH). The timetable will include a variety of outpatient clinic sessions as well as theatre sessions and on-call. The department currently have 10 substantive consultants.

  • Lead and manage the Catering Service to make sure patients, visitors and staff receive a high-quality food service every day.
  • Manage catering staff, including recruitment, training, performance, attendance and staff wellbeing, to ensure the service runs safely and effectively.
  • Plan, organise and monitor catering operations, making sure meals are prepared and served to agreed quality, nutrition and food safety standards.
  • Manage budgets, resources and service improvements to deliver value for money and help the service achieve its goals.
  • Work closely with colleagues, clinical teams, patients and external organisations to maintain good communication and continuously improve the catering service.
  • Ensure all catering activities follow health and safety, food safety and NHS requirements, and take action to resolve issues, complaints and risks when needed.

- Cancer Pathway Coordinator

Non Clinical - Cancer Services Department

  • Co-ordinate the care and treatment journey for people with cancer, helping to make sure they receive appointments, tests and treatment on time.
  • Work closely with doctors, nurses and other teams across both hospital sites to keep patient care running smoothly and to solve any delays.
  • Monitor each patient’s progress, take action when problems arise, and keep patients and their carers informed of any changes to appointments.
  • Support and organise cancer multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, record outcomes accurately, and make sure agreed actions are completed.
  • Maintain accurate patient and performance data using a range of computer systems, and produce reports to support high-quality cancer services.
  • Help improve cancer services, support colleagues with training and guidance, and contribute to projects that enhance the patient experience and quality of care.

  • Work closely with doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to make sure patients receive safe, timely and personalised care.
  • Carry out assessments, monitor patients’ needs and help manage symptoms to improve wellbeing and support recovery.
  • Offer emotional support to patients and carers, helping them cope with the challenges of a cancer diagnosis and treatment.
  • Maintain accurate records, contribute to service improvement and promote high standards of care based on best practice and current guidance.
