If your answer is yes to any of the above, then we have an exciting opportunity available within our Pharmacy Department based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH), for a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist working collaboratively with the Critical Care Clinical team across both sites to develop the current service provided to ensure a safe and effective service. We are looking for a proactive and highly motivated, registered pharmacist to join our Critical Care Pharmacy Team operating across The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.
Applicants for the specialist role must be suitably qualified, as appropriate to the post. A postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy is essential. This is a prescribing role and those candidates who are not currently an independent prescriber will be supported and funded to undertake the qualification.

The standard working hours for this post are a flexible 9 day fortnight - please ask for more details. More flexible options can be explored.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
- Be a highly specialised clinical Pharmacist delivering a high level to clinical Pharmacy input for the Critical Care patient
- Work as an independent prescriber to optimise medicine regimes for the Critical Care patients
- Contribute to the provision of a clinical pharmacy service to other wards in the event of annual leave and sickness
- Be lead pharmacist regarding the day-to-day delivery of a consistently high clinical pharmacy service for the Critical Care patient. The service will be delivered in conjunction with a colleague; Advanced Specialist Pharmacist – Critical Care and will include daily ward visits, participation in consultant ward rounds and teaching of medical, nursing and less experienced pharmacy staff as necessary to sustain the level of service required.
- Lead the development of Clinical Pharmacy standards across the Trust for the Critical Care patient
- Work with the Team Leader – Clinical Services & Governance (Surgery and Anaesthetics) regarding the operational management and strategic development of pharmaceutical services and to reduce the risk of medication misadventure within the Critical Care speciality
