**INTERNAL ONLY VACANCY**
This is an exciting opportunity for an existing Band 6 with chemotherapy skills, or Band 5 who is keen to progress and develop, to progress to a Band 6 Sister on the Oncology Day Unit to cover maternity leave. This post is mainly based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but there may be a requirement for occasional shifts to be worked at The Princess Royal Hospital. The post oversees the day to day care on the treatment unit, supervising the junior nurses to deliver care. The Band 6 Sister would also oversee and supervise the daily working of the Haematology outpatient clinic which is attached to the treatment unit. Hours would be worked between Monday and Friday and set days could be considered with negotiation. We would be happy to consider part time working
Main duties of the job
The unit provides care to all Oncology patients requiring outpatient chemotherapy and other supportive Oncology treatments. The unit has a tight knit nursing team who are always keen to develop the service and will support any new starter within the team.
The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic and keen individual who wants to be part of a dynamic and fast changing service. You will need to have high level chemotherapy skills and a good level of Oncology knowledge, and be keen to develop your managerial skills as part of the support you will be giving to the Unit Manager. Good communication skills are essential in this role as is the ability to work well with people at all levels.
