Main duties of the job

To function as a competent clinical practitioner within their designated clinical area.
To deliver direct patient care whilst, co-ordinating and overseeing nursing/theatre practice.
To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of clinical activities during their span of duty.
To ensure that there is efficient and effective utilisation of resources to deliver optimum quality care to their client group.
To deputise for the ward/ department manager in his / her absence, driving forward evidence-based practice and taking responsibility for the supervision of staff and the policies and practices that operate within their clinical area.
To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
To participate in the on-call rota if post within theatre

Working for our organisation

The Emergency Department is undergoing a significant refurbishment to accommodate a safe and deliverable service to the children and families of Shropshire/Telford & Wrekin. The refurbishment consists of an extension to our Major area, Pitstop, an Ambulance arrivals pod, a dedicated Paediatric area alongside a new Urgent Treatment Centre for the Minors and GP stream.

This is a very exciting time to join our Emergency Department with opportunities to develop with formal Royal College Nursing - Emergency Nurse Competency based assessments with accreditation supporting all nurses. We value each role in our diverse multidisciplinary team of Health Care Assistants, Emergency Care Technicians, Housekeepers, Patient Flow Coordinators, Nurses, Paramedics, Practice Education Facilitators and Emergency Care Practioners alongside our Receptionists and Operational Managers. We work collaboratively with internal and external Paediatric specialties to strive for excellent care for the communities we serve.
